The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of Aki Akimoto’s romantic comedy manga, “Mechanical Marie” (Kikaijikake no Marie), is officially slated to premiere on October 5, 2025. The announcement came alongside the release of a second promotional video, which not only offered a new glimpse into the series but also unveiled additional voice cast members joining the production.

The anime will air on Tokyo MX, Yomiuri TV, and BS Fuji, bringing the heartwarming rom-com to screens this fall. Crunchyroll is also confirmed to stream the series.

Key Details from the Second Promotional Video

The newly released second promotional video provided fans with further insight into the animated world of “Mechanical Marie,” showcasing more of its unique blend of comedy, romance, and action. The trailer highlighted the dynamic between Marie, a human martial artist disguised as a “mechanical maid,” and her human-hating employer, Arthur. The video also served as the platform for introducing new vocal talents.

Expanding the Voice Cast: New Additions Revealed

Following earlier announcements, the second promotional video confirmed additional key voice actors who will be bringing the diverse cast of “Mechanical Marie” to life. Chiaki Kobayashi and Ami Koshimizu were announced to play Noah and Marie-2, respectively. Further additions to the cast include Yuuichirou Umehara as Roy and Daishi Kajita as Maynard.

These new cast members join the previously confirmed lead roles:

  • Marie: Nao Tōyama
  • Arthur: Haruki Ishiya

Character Breakdown of New Cast Members

  • Chiaki Kobayashi as Noah: Noah is an assassin targeting Arthur, adding a layer of intrigue and danger to Marie’s secret mission.
  • Ami Koshimizu as Marie-2: Marie-2 is described as a “robot maid,” creating a fascinating dynamic with the protagonist Marie, who is pretending to be a mechanical maid. Koshimizu expressed her desire to portray Marie-2’s developing heart, hoping to bring smiles to viewers.
  • Yuuichirou Umehara as Roy: Roy is another character joining the ensemble, though specific details of his role were not fully elaborated in the initial reports.
  • Daishi Kajita as Maynard: Similar to Roy, Maynard’s character details are yet to be fully revealed, but his addition further enriches the cast.

Production Team Behind “Mechanical Marie”

The anime is being produced by studios Zero-G and Liber. The directorial helm is taken by Junji Nishimura, known for his work on series like The Fire Hunter. Mariko Kunisawa (of BARTENDER Glass of God) is handling the series composition, while Yoko Kikuchi (Twilight Out of Focus) is responsible for character designs. The musical score is a collaboration between Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail) and Johannes Nilsson (Gushing over Magical Girls).

The opening theme song, “Honto to Uso” (Truth and Lies), will be performed by Harutya, and the ending theme, “Cross Heart: Itsuwari no Nai Kimochi” (Cross Heart: Feelings with No Lies), will be performed by Nao Tōyama in her character as Marie.

Synopsis of the Series

“Mechanical Marie” follows Marie, a former genius martial artist who, under certain circumstances, finds herself working as a “mechanical maid” in the mansion of Arthur, an heir to a powerful conglomerate who despises humans. Marie’s mission is to protect Arthur from constant assassination attempts while meticulously maintaining her robot facade; if her true human identity is discovered, it could lead to immediate execution. The plot thickens as Arthur, who dotes on Marie, unknowingly comes dangerously close to uncovering her secret, leading to a daily mix of thrills and close calls. The series promises a heartwarming romantic comedy filled with laughter, tears, and an unexpected romance blossoming between master and servant.

The original manga by Aki Akimoto was initially a one-shot in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine in March 2020 before being serialized from June 2020 to June 2023, concluding with six tankōbon volumes. A sequel series, Mechanical Marie+, began serialization in LaLa in April 2025.
