The official website for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Suisei’s light novel series, “There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” (Yūsha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Itanode, Kokuhaku Shite Mita), announced two new cast members on Friday. Ryōhei Kimura will join as Yūga, the hero of the party, and Yūko Natsuyoshi will voice Mikana, the party’s magician.
The romantic fantasy comedy series is slated to premiere in 2026, with Crunchyroll set to stream the anime worldwide, excluding Asia but including India and the Indian Subcontinent.
Expanding the Hero’s Party Voice Cast
The addition of Ryōhei Kimura and Yūko Natsuyoshi brings more talent to the anticipated adaptation. Kimura, known for his roles in various popular anime, will lend his voice to Yūga, the titular hero of the party. Natsuyoshi, also an established voice actress, will portray Mikana, the mage who accompanies the hero.
These new cast members join the previously announced leads: Kōhei Amasaki as Yōki, the demon protagonist, and Kana Hanazawa as Cecilia, the priestess with whom Yōki falls in love.
Diving into the Romantic Fantasy Premise
“There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” centers on Yōki, a man who finds himself reincarnated into a fantasy world not as a hero or a demon lord, but as a mid-tier demon serving the Demon King. His life takes an unexpected turn when the hero’s party attacks the Demon Lord’s castle. Instead of engaging in battle, Yōki is instantly smitten with Cecilia, the kind-hearted priestess in the hero’s party. Overwhelmed by love at first sight, Yōki vows to confess his feelings to her, even if it means betraying his demon lord. The story promises a pure isekai romantic comedy as it explores the blossoming relationship between the demon Yōki and the human priestess Cecilia.
Production Details and Creative Team
The anime adaptation is being produced by Studio Gekkou. Guiding the project is Chief Director Yasutaka Yamamoto, with Tomonori Mine serving as the director. The series composition and scripts are being handled by Yukie Sugawara. Mina Ōsawa is responsible for adapting illustrator La-na’s character designs for animation, while Satoru Kōsaki and MONACA are composing the music. Ryō Aizawa is credited as the producer at Starry Cube. The original light novel series is written by Suisei, and a manga adaptation illustrated by Kairi began serialization in 2021.
