The upcoming anime adaptation of Mitsuru Hattori’s popular manga, Wash It All Away (Kirei ni Shitemoraemasu ka.), has announced musician Eri Chichibu as its composer and confirmed a television debut in January 2026. This latest revelation comes with a teaser promotional video released by Happinet, further building anticipation for the slice-of-life series.

Diving into the Details: Staff and Studio Behind the Suds

The animation production for Wash It All Away will be handled by studio Okuruto Noboru. Known for its engaging visual storytelling, the studio aims to bring the manga’s endearing protagonist and picturesque seaside setting to life.

Key Creative Team Members

Guiding the production is director Kenta Onishi, who will be overseeing the animated rendition of Wakana Kinme’s story. The series composition and script are entrusted to Toko Machida, ensuring the narrative maintains the charm and emotional depth of the original work. Azuma Tozawa is responsible for the character designs, translating Hattori’s distinctive art style for animation.

A Glimpse into the Story: Laundry, Memories, and Atami

Wash It All Away centers on Wakana Kinme, a cheerful woman who runs “Kinme Cleaning,” a beloved laundry service in the picturesque seaside town of Atami. For two years, Wakana has dedicated herself to her trade, fostering friendships with the local residents and enjoying the town’s hot springs.

The Heart of Kinme Cleaning

Despite her fulfilling life, Wakana carries a unique mystery: she has no recollection of her past from two years prior. Her cleaning services, however, become a profound connection to memories, as she believes that clothes safeguard the cherished recollections of their owners. The series is described as a gentle, relaxing, and emotional narrative, distinguishing itself from action-heavy anime by offering tranquility and heartwarming moments.

The Original Manga’s Legacy

Mitsuru Hattori’s Wash It All Away manga was serialized in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine from July 2017 to June 2023. The complete story spans ten collected volumes, which have also been published in English by Square Enix. The manga has been praised for its luscious art and its ability to offer a tranquil escape through Wakana’s slice-of-life adventures. The anime adaptation was decided some time ago, reportedly before the release of the ninth manga volume, with the author, Mitsuru Hattori, expressing excitement about seeing the characters animated.

Voice actress Sayumi Suzushiro has been cast as the protagonist, Wakana Kinme. Suzushiro commented on her role, stating her deep emotional connection to the manga’s depiction of Atami and the intricate world of dry cleaning. She looks forward to bringing Kinme’s captivating journey to life, emphasizing the character’s sole remaining memory revolving around cleaning and the impactful encounters she experiences through her work.
