The first six minutes of the highly anticipated anime film “100 Meters” (Hyakuemu) have been officially streamed, offering fans a glimpse into the athletic drama following its Japanese theatrical release on September 19, 2025. The preview was made available via distributor Asmik Ace’s official YouTube channel.

A Glimpse into the Racetrack Rivalry

The streamed footage opens with narration by veteran voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda, who also voices the character Kaido in the film. This introduction seamlessly transitions into dynamic scenes of athletes intensely competing on the track, setting the stage for the film’s central narrative. The early release of this segment allows audiences to experience the visual style and initial pacing of the movie before its wider distribution.

“100 Meters”: The Story of Gifted Runners and Rivalry

“100 Meters” is an anime adaptation of Uoto’s acclaimed sports manga, which was serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket from November 2018 to August 2019. The film tells the story of Togashi, a naturally gifted track star who effortlessly wins every 100-meter race from a young age. His world shifts in sixth grade when he encounters Komiya, a transfer student who, despite lacking natural technique, possesses immense determination. Togashi’s decision to teach Komiya running techniques inadvertently ignites in Komiya a powerful drive to win, transforming him into a formidable rival. Years later, Togashi and Komiya reunite on the track as rivals, each revealing their true selves through their shared passion for sprinting.

Key Creative Team and Production

The film is directed by Kenji Iwaisawa, known for his work on “On-Gaku: Our Sound.” Production is handled by Rock ‘n’ Roll Mountain, with a team including Keisuke Kojima as character designer and chief animation director, Keikankun Yamaguchi as art director, and Hiroaki Tsutsumi composing the music. Yasuyuki Mutō is credited with the screenplay.

Stellar Voice Cast

The “100 Meters” anime film features a talented cast bringing the characters to life:

  • Togashi: Voiced by Tori Matsuzaka.
  • Komiya: Voiced by Shota Sometani.
  • Kaido: Voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda.
  • Saizu (or Zaitsu): Voiced by Koki Uchiyama.

Additional cast members include Jun Kasama as Nigami, Rie Takahashi as Asakusa, Yuki Tanaka as Shiina, Atsumi Tanezaki as Young Togashi, and Aoi Yūki as Young Komiya.

Upcoming Release Schedule

While the film premiered in Japan on September 19, 2025, North American audiences can anticipate its release in theaters starting in October 2025. GKIDS will distribute the film in North America, with a special opening screening event scheduled for October 10 in Los Angeles. Nationwide screenings across the U.S. and Canada will follow from October 12 to 14, 2025, offering both original Japanese with English subtitles and an English dubbed version. The film also had its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2024.

The theme song for “100 Meters,” titled “Rashisa,” is performed by the popular Japanese rock band Official HIGE DANdism. The band also released a collaboration music video for the song featuring scenes from the film.
