The Story of ‘Potions Will Save Me’
The anime is based on Akira Iwafune’s light novel series, illustrated by Sunaho Tobe. The original web novel was serialized on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō from April 2014 to September 2024, with print editions published by Shufunotomo under their Hero Bunko imprint since April 2015. A manga adaptation, also illustrated by Tobe, began serialization in September 2023.
The story follows Kaede, an ordinary high school girl who suddenly finds herself transported to a mysterious fantasy world inhabited by beastkin, elves, and dragons. Equipped with an enigmatic book, she discovers the ability to craft potions simply by chanting “Create.” Kaede then leverages this newfound power to navigate her new surroundings and strives to find a way back to her original world.
