Manga artist Rie Kanou is set to debut her new series, “Snow Dome Town,” in the upcoming 44th issue of Kodansha’s Morning magazine, launching on October 2. The announcement was made in the magazine’s 43rd issue on Thursday, revealing a story centered on a pair of friends from a snowy northern town.
Delving into ‘Snow Dome Town’s’ Narrative
“Snow Dome Town” will introduce readers to Ako, a character who has spent their entire life in their snowy hometown. Ako’s friend, Tako, enlists their help in writing a novel with a snowy theme. The narrative will follow the duo as they journey to Tokyo to complete their literary endeavor, a trip that ultimately leads them to uncover truths and challenges related to their hometown. The inaugural chapter of the manga will feature a special color opening page.
Rie Kanou’s Previous Works and Recognition
Rie Kanou is known for several other manga titles, including “Slow Motion wo Mou Ichido” (released in 2016) and “Kanojo wa Kyou mo Katazukanai” (released in 2019). Her previous works also include “Star Light Woman,” which ran from September 2013 to April 2014 in Futabasha’s Manga Action magazine, and was digitally published in English by Crunchyroll. She also contributed to “Kidou Senshi Gundam Bandiera” in 2020. Kanou has been recognized for her talent, having won Kodansha Afternoon’s Summer 2009 Judge’s Special Award.
