From University Parody to New Beginnings: Shinpei Funatsu’s Latest Work
Shinpei Funatsu gained recognition for Todai Revengers, a comedic spin-off of Ken Wakui’s popular Tokyo Revengers manga. Todai Revengers reimagined the main character as a hapless university student, offering an over-the-top parody that ran in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app and website from November 2021 to May 2023, concluding with its sixth volume. Seven Seas Entertainment has been publishing the parody manga in English, with the third and final omnibus volume released on July 22.
“Heisei Tensei” Set to Debut on Magazine Pocket
Funatsu’s new manga, Heisei Tensei, will also be published on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform, signaling a continued collaboration with the digital service.
