The highly anticipated second and final cour of the Fire Force Season 3 anime is set to ignite screens on January 9, 2026. The premiere date, alongside a new key visual, was officially announced for the concluding chapter of Shinra Kusakabe’s fiery saga.

Fans can catch the episodes weekly on Fridays at 1:53 a.m. JST (effectively January 10) on Japan’s Animeism programming block across MBS, TBS, and CBC, with Netflix exclusively streaming the latest episodes in Japan after their television broadcast. Internationally, Crunchyroll will handle streaming for audiences in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS, and will also provide an English dub.

The Road to the Grand Finale

The announcement regarding the third and final season of Fire Force was initially made in May 2022, with further details revealed at Anime Expo 2024, confirming it would air in two split cours. The first half of the final season premiered in April 2025 and ran until June 2025, leaving fans with significant cliffhangers and an “explosive” finale that hinted at major revelations for Shinra’s world.

The upcoming second cour will delve deeper into the narrative threads established in the first half, continuing the critical mission of Shinra and Company 8 to prevent a second “Great Cataclysm.” The new visual released features protagonist Shinra Kusakabe, the “Hero,” standing alongside Arthur Boyle, the self-proclaimed “King of Knights,” against a backdrop of Tokyo engulfed in the “Great Cataclysm,” underscoring the high stakes of the concluding arc.

Production Details and Creative Team

David Production, the animation studio behind the series, returns to helm the final season. Tatsuma Minamikawa, who directed the second season, is back in the director’s chair for this ultimate installment. Sei Tsuguta is responsible for the series composition and scripts, taking over from Minamikawa in this role. Hideyuki Morioka is once again credited with character designs, while Mika Yamamoto joins as the sub-character designer. The team of chief animation directors includes Yoshihiro Yoshioka, Mariko Kubo, and Yumenosuke Tokuda.

Fire Force’s Enduring Legacy and Soul Eater Connection

Fire Force, based on the popular manga by Atsushi Ohkubo, has captivated audiences with its unique blend of action, dark fantasy, and compelling characters. The series is set 250 years after a global conflagration known as the Great Cataclysm, in a world where special fire brigades combat “Infernals”—humans who spontaneously combust and transform into fiery demons. Shinra Kusakabe, known for his “devil’s footprints,” joins the Special Fire Force Company 8 to unravel the mystery behind human combustion and confront the Evangelist.

A significant aspect of the Fire Force narrative, particularly in its concluding stages, is its explicit connection to Ohkubo’s previous hit series, Soul Eater. The manga, which concluded in February 2022 with its 34th volume, revealed itself to be a direct prequel to Soul Eater, a revelation that generated considerable excitement among fans. The anime’s final season is expected to explore and solidify this connection, potentially offering deeper insights into the shared universe. The manga’s ending saw Shinra playing a pivotal role in reshaping the world and establishing the origins of the “Soul World,” featuring younger versions of Soul Eater characters like Death the Kid, Soul, Black Star, and Maka.

As the anime prepares for its dramatic conclusion, viewers are anticipating answers to long-standing mysteries and the ultimate fate of Shinra and his comrades in their battle against the Infernals and the encroaching darkness.
