The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Suisei’s light novel series, “There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” (Yūsha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Itanode, Kokuhaku Shite Mita), has announced the addition of Toshiki Masuda and Minami Tanaka to its cast. The popular voice actors will portray Duke and Seek, respectively, both former subordinates of the protagonist Yōki. The romantic comedy fantasy series is slated to premiere in 2026.
New Additions to the Cast: Duke and Seek
Toshiki Masuda will lend his voice to Duke, a Dullahan and former subordinate of Yōki. Masuda is well-known for his roles as Eijiro Kirishima in “My Hero Academia” and Iori Izumi in “IDOLiSH7,” among many others, showcasing his dynamic range from energetic high schoolers to noble warriors.
Minami Tanaka will take on the role of Seek, a Pixie who also served under Yōki. Tanaka has an extensive career, with notable performances as Lily Hoshikawa in “Zombieland Saga” and Mary Saotome in “Kakegurui.” Her versatility has earned her accolades, including the Rookie Actress Award at the 11th Seiyu Awards.
A Pure Isekai Rom-Com Fantasy
The anime is based on Suisei’s light novel series and Kairi’s manga adaptation. The story follows Yōki, a man who, after dying in a traffic accident, is reincarnated as a powerful demon in a fantasy world. Despite his demonic status, Yōki finds himself smitten with Cecilia, the kind-hearted cleric of the Hero’s party, upon their encounter. Uninterested in becoming the Demon Lord, Yōki falls in love at first sight with Cecilia and promptly confesses his feelings, initiating an unconventional romantic and comedic journey between a demon and a hero’s party member.
The previously announced main cast members include Kōhei Amasaki as Yōki, Kana Hanazawa as Cecilia, Ryōhei Kimura as Yūga, and Yūko Natsuyoshi as Mikana.
Production and Streaming Details
The television anime series is being produced by Studio Gekkō. The production staff includes Yasutaka Yamamoto (“Medalist,” “Servant × Service”) as chief director, with Tomonori Mine (“Isekai Onsen Paradise”) directing the series. Yukie Sugawara (“Overlord,” “No Guns Life”) is responsible for both writing and overseeing the series scripts, while Mina Ōsawa (“The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest”) is adapting illustrator La-na’s original character designs for animation. The musical score will be composed by Satoru Kōsaki (“BEASTARS,” “The Apothecary Diaries”) and MONACA.
For international viewers, Crunchyroll has secured the streaming rights and will offer the anime worldwide, with the exception of Asia, but including India and the Indian Subcontinent, starting in 2026.
