Pony Canyon has officially announced that the highly anticipated television anime adaptation of Iwatobineko’s manga series, The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife (Tōmei Otoko to Ningen Onna: Sonouchi Fūfu ni Naru Futari), will premiere on January 8, 2026. The announcement also included a new visual and the reveal of additional voice cast members joining the romantic supernatural comedy.
The series, which was previously slated for a 2025 release but was delayed, will air on Tokyo MX and BS NTV at 11:30 PM, followed by broadcasts on Sun TV and KBS Kyoto 30 minutes later. Worldwide streaming is also planned to begin in January.
Delving into the Story of the Invisible Detective and the Blind Woman
The anime adaptation brings to life the charming and unique romance between an invisible detective and a blind woman. The plot centers on Shizuka Yakou, a quiet and bashful woman who works at a detective agency. Her boss, Akira Tounome, is a kind and dapper gentleman with an extraordinary ability: he’s invisible. While his invisibility is perfect for detective work, it surprisingly doesn’t work on Yakou, who, despite being blind, can always sense his presence. Charmed by her unique perception, Tounome becomes determined to win her affection, employing his various skills in his pursuit. Their office romance unfolds with the supportive, if sometimes quirky, oversight of their coworkers.
The original manga, written and illustrated by Iwatobineko, first appeared as a webcomic on the author’s Twitter account in March 2021 before being serialized on the Pixiv Comic website under Futabasha’s Web Action brand in September of the same year. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in English.
Expanding the Voice Cast and Production Team
The newly announced cast members include Tomohiro Ōno as Karma, a cheerful dark elf who runs a tea shop, and Kaori Ishihara as Light, a gentle white elf who co-manages the shop with her husband, Karma. Kaori Ishihara will also perform the anime’s ending theme song, titled “Hoshimegane” (Star Glasses).
These additions join the previously announced main cast:
- Yōhei Azakami as Akira Tounome
- Yuka Nukui as Shizuka Yakou
- Riho Sugiyama as Luna Jarashi
- Masaya Fukunishi as Daichi Kikira
