The ongoing TV anime adaptation of the fantasy light novel series, “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!”, has revealed two new cast members joining its second season. Kiyono Yasuno will voice Artbaran Henning, and Yūki Wakai will take on the role of Mary Auden, with their characters set to appear from episode 15 of the series.

New Voice Talent Joins the Adventure

The addition of Kiyono Yasuno and Yūki Wakai brings fresh voices to the expanding world of “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!”. These seasoned voice actresses are known for their diverse roles across numerous anime productions.

Kiyono Yasuno as Artbaran Henning

Kiyono Yasuno is a prominent Japanese voice actress and singer, celebrated for her roles such as Megumi Katō in “Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend” and Kaname Buccaneer in “Macross Delta”. Her extensive filmography also includes characters like Nejire Hado in “My Hero Academia” and Charmy Pappitson in “Black Clover”. Her involvement as Artbaran Henning is expected to bring depth to the new character.

Yūki Wakai as Mary Auden

Yūki Wakai is another accomplished voice actress, recognized for her work as Itsuki Sumeragi in “Kakegurui” and Hikari Jougasaki in “Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing ’til Cry”. She is also part of the J-pop idol group i☆Ris. Her portrayal of Mary Auden will introduce another key figure into the narrative.

About “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!”

“Let This Grieving Soul Retire!” (Japanese: Nageki no Bōrei wa Intai Shitai) is an adventure and fantasy series that originated as a light novel. The story centers around Krai Andrey, the reputed leader of the elite treasure hunter party, “The Grieving Souls”.

The Reluctant Hero: Krai Andrey

Despite his legendary reputation as the “Thousand Tricks” for his supposed unstoppable strength and clairvoyant mind, Krai Andrey is, in reality, a rather weak and unlucky individual who simply wishes to retire. His friends, however, mistake his accidental successes and self-serving attempts to avoid danger as brilliant strategies, solidifying his unwanted position as their leader. The narrative often focuses on Krai’s comedic attempts to avoid work or acquire rare relics, leading to his accidental heroism and the further misunderstanding of his true nature by his devoted companions.

The World of “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!”

The series is set in a fantasy world where dungeon-like treasure vaults have emerged, prompting many to become treasure hunters in pursuit of riches and ancient relics. The Grieving Souls operate in the imperial capital of Zebrudia, conquering formidable dungeons and disasters with their combined, albeit often misguided, efforts.

Production Details

The anime series is directed by Masahiro Takata and animated by Studio Zero-G. Hideki Shirane handles the series composition, with character designs by Yusuke Isouchi and Shingo Fujisaki, and music composed by Ryohei Sataka. Crunchyroll currently streams the series.

The original light novels, written by Tsukikage and illustrated by Chyko, began publication on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in January 2018, with Micro Magazine publishing print volumes. J-Novel Club releases the English-language version. The addition of these new cast members signals continued development and exciting new story arcs for fans of the fantasy adventure.
