Tokyo, Japan – Fans of the acclaimed anime series Chainsaw Man are buzzing with excitement as it has been officially confirmed that the hardcore rock band Maximum The Hormone will contribute an insert song to Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. The track, titled “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI [2-hundred-million-centimeter-long blades] (70% Unlocked edit),” will be featured in the highly anticipated film, offering an extended version of a fan-favorite song previously heard in the TV anime.
The announcement has generated significant hype, particularly because this “70% Unlocked edit” will include previously unreleased lyrics for the second verse, which directly reference the character Reze. Maximum The Hormone had previously performed a 90-second “TV edit” of “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI” as the ending theme for the third episode of the Chainsaw Man TV series. The band themselves commented on the serendipitous timing, noting their surprise and delight that the full version, with its Reze-specific lyrics, would now be featured in the Reze Arc movie.
What to Expect from “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc”
The film adapts the popular Reze Arc from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s original Chainsaw Man manga, focusing on protagonist Denji’s intense and dangerous encounter with a mysterious girl named Reze. The movie promises to delve into their brief, youthful romance and the explosive battles that inevitably follow.
Key Musical Contributions
While Maximum The Hormone’s track serves as an exciting insert song, the movie also boasts other significant musical talents:
- Main Theme Song: Kenshi Yonezu, known for performing the first season’s opening theme “KICK BACK,” returns to contribute the main theme song for the film, “IRIS OUT.” A new music video for “IRIS OUT,” featuring footage exclusively from the main feature film, has already been released, providing fans with an early glimpse of the movie’s action.
- Ending Theme: Superstar Hikaru Utada, widely recognized for their work on the Kingdom Hearts series, will perform the ending theme “Jane Doe.” This marks Utada’s first anime theme song contribution since 2021’s “One Last Kiss” for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time.
