The upcoming television anime adaptation of Tachibana Higuchi’s popular manga, “Champignon Witch” (Champignon no Majo), has revealed its main cast member and a teaser video, confirming that Haruka Shiraishi will voice the lead character, Luna. The series is slated to premiere in January 2026 on TBS and other channels.

In a recently released video, it was announced that voice actress Haruka Shiraishi will take on the role of Luna, the protagonist of “Champignon Witch.” Shiraishi is known for her roles in various anime, including projects like Kowloon Generic Romance and Golden Kamuy. This announcement provides fans with their first listen to Luna’s voice, building anticipation for the series’ debut.
Luna is depicted as a solitary witch residing deep within a black forest, often feared by townspeople due to poisonous mushrooms sprouting wherever she walks or touches. Despite this, she creates miraculous healing potions, making her a vital, yet mysterious, figure to the community. The story is described as a magical fantasy exploring love, adventure, and emotion, centering on Luna’s journey to experience human warmth and the various forms of love surrounding her.

The production of “Champignon Witch” is being handled by studios Typhoon Graphics and Qzil.la. Yosuke Kubo is directing the anime, with Miki Matsumoto designing the characters. Yuko Kakihara is in charge of the series composition, ensuring a coherent and engaging narrative flow for the adaptation.

“Champignon Witch” is based on the adventure fantasy manga by Tachibana Higuchi, which began serialization on Hakusensha’s Manga Park app and website in October 2019. As of December 2024, six volumes of the manga have been released. Higuchi is also known for her long-running series Gakuen Alice, which concluded in 2013 after a decade-long run.

While Yuki Sakakihara was not announced as a cast member for “Champignon Witch” in the recent unveiling, he is a prominent Japanese voice actor with a notable career. Affiliated with 81 Produce, Sakakihara is recognized for his distinctive, often androgynous voice and charming personality.
