The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of Shizumu Watanabe’s Dead Account manga has released its second promotional video, offering a deeper look into its digitally-haunted world and confirming its January 2026 premiere. The new video also hints at global plans for an accompanying game, expanding the franchise’s reach beyond the screen.

Glimpse into the Digital Underworld: Second Promo Video Details

The newly unveiled promotional video showcases the anime’s intense action sequences and delves further into the supernatural premise. It features protagonist Sōji Enishiro, known online as “Aoringo,” as he navigates a world where digital spaces are haunted by “Bake Aka” — digital ghosts formed from the lingering regrets of the deceased. The trailer highlights the unique blend of modern technology and traditional exorcism that defines the series, with glimpses of Miden Academy, an institution dedicated to training exorcists specializing in digital hauntings.

The animation, handled by SynergySP, promises a dynamic visual experience, capturing the eerie and thrilling atmosphere of the manga.

Global Game Expansion on the Horizon

While specific details regarding the global game plans remain under wraps, the announcement indicates a significant push to expand the Dead Account universe into interactive media. This move suggests an immersive experience that could allow fans worldwide to engage with the series’ unique concepts of digital exorcism and social media-driven supernatural battles. Further information on the game’s platform, genre, and release schedule is expected to be revealed in the coming months.

Dead Account Anime: Release, Cast, and Crew

The Dead Account anime is set to officially premiere in January 2026. It will air in Japan on TV Asahi and its affiliated networks as part of the “IMAnimation” block, scheduled for Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. JST.

Key Staff and Animation Studio

The production is helmed by director Keiya Saitō at SynergySP. Mitsutaka Hirota is responsible for the series scripts, and Keiji Inai is composing the music, with Nippon Columbia handling the music production. Other notable staff members include Seika Fujii and Saho Yamane (Kusanagi) as art directors, Haruka Serizawa (Asahi Production) as director of photography, Eitarō Ano for color design, Yūsuke Ueno (Yanagi Editing Room) for editing, and Ryōsuke Naya as sound director.

Main Voice Cast

The anime boasts a talented voice cast bringing the characters to life:

  • Sōji Enishiro (Aoringo): Voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto.
  • Kukuru Kasubata: Voiced by Koki Uchiyama.
  • Kiyomi Urusugawa: Voiced by Fairouz Ai.
  • Renri Hasumi: Voiced by Natsuki Hanae.
  • Hiyori Haijima: Voiced by Machico.
  • Naruhiko Emoto: Voiced by Ryōta Suzuki.
  • Yoimaru Azaki: Voiced by Takuya Satō.

The Premise of Dead Account

Based on Shizumu Watanabe’s manga, Dead Account is set in a contemporary world where ghosts have begun to inhabit digital spaces, manifesting through the online profiles of the deceased. The story follows 15-year-old Sōji Enishiro, a high school dropout and controversial online streamer known as “Aoringo.” He creates provocative content to generate revenue, primarily to cover his younger sister’s substantial medical expenses.

After a fateful encounter with a digital ghost, Sōji awakens spiritual abilities and enrolls in Miden Academy, a specialized school training exorcists to combat these new digital threats. The series explores themes of social media, online identity, and the blurring lines between the physical and digital realms, all wrapped in action-packed exorcism battles. The manga was initially serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine starting January 2023, before moving to the Magazine Pocket app in October of the same year. Kodansha’s K Manga service publishes the English digital version of the series.
