Anime fans can anticipate a wave of new adaptations in 2026, with popular manga series “The Ghost in the Shell,” “Marriage Toxin,” and “Super Psychic Policeman Chojo” all confirmed to receive television anime series. While details regarding a consolidated Tuesday night programming block for these specific titles remain to be fully unveiled, individual production announcements have generated significant excitement within the anime community.

New Anime Programming Block “Ka-Anival!!” to Debut in January

Kansai TV and Fuji TV have announced the launch of a new anime programming block titled “Ka-Anival!!”, which will air on Tuesday nights at 11:00 p.m. JST, starting January 6. The first anime confirmed for this block is “Tune In to the Midnight Heart” (Mayonaka Heart Tune). While the announcement mentions other anime slated to debut in this new block, the full lineup explicitly featuring “The Ghost in the Shell,” “Marriage Toxin,” and “Super Psychic Policeman Chojo” together has not been detailed.

The Highly Anticipated Return of “The Ghost in the Shell”

A new anime series adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s iconic cyberpunk manga, “The Ghost in the Shell,” is officially set to premiere in 2026. Produced by Science Saru, this marks the latest iteration in the acclaimed franchise, which has inspired numerous films, OVAs, and TV series since its 1989 debut. The new series is directed by Moko-chan, with sci-fi author EnJoe Toh handling the script. This adaptation aims to be closer to the original manga’s tone and art style, distinguishing itself from previous, more philosophical adaptations. Early teasers have highlighted key animation and storyboards, featuring protagonist Motoko Kusanagi and the AI tank Fuchikoma, evoking the spirit of Shirow’s original work.

“Marriage Toxin” Manga Gets TV Anime Adaptation

The popular action-romantic comedy manga “Marriage Toxin,” written by Joumyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda, is confirmed for a television anime adaptation in 2026. Published on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app since April 2022, the series has garnered a dedicated readership for its unique blend of action, romance, and humor.

Production Details for “Marriage Toxin”

The anime adaptation will be produced by BONES Film, known for its work on series such as “My Hero Academia.” Motonobu Hori, celebrated for “Carole & Tuesday,” is set to direct the series. Kohei Tokuoka is appointed as Chief Animation Director and Character Designer, while Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi will compose the music. The story follows Hikaru Gero, a skilled assassin with no romantic experience, who teams up with a “marriage swindler” named Mei Kinosaki to find a bride and preserve his family’s lineage. A teaser visual and promotional video, along with voice cast announcements for Hikaru Gero (Haruki Ishiya) and Mei Kinosaki (Shion Wakayama), have already been released, building anticipation for its April 2026 debut.

“Super Psychic Policeman Chojo” Joins the Anime Ranks

Fans of supernatural action can look forward to the anime adaptation of “Super Psychic Policeman Chojo,” scheduled for release in 2026. This manga, which originally ran in Shonen Jump+, follows Meguru Choujou, a psychic senior police officer in the city of Chinjuku, who uses his extraordinary powers to combat crime alongside his judo expert partner, Nao Ippongi. The anime is being animated by Arvo Animation, with Junichi Yamamoto directing, Ayasimori on script duty, and Masakat Suasaki handling character designs. The announcement of its anime adaptation came just months after the manga concluded its serialization.

As 2026 approaches, more information regarding specific broadcast schedules for “The Ghost in the Shell,” “Marriage Toxin,” and “Super Psychic Policeman Chojo” within “Ka-Anival!!” or other programming blocks is expected. Anime enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting these new additions to the expansive world of Japanese animation.
