Tokyo, Japan – The highly anticipated fourth episode of To Your Eternity Season 3, titled “The Missing One” (or “The Missing Person” in some translations), premiered on October 25, 2025, delving deeper into the unsettling mystery surrounding Mizuha and her family. The episode was broadcast on NHK General TV in Japan at 11:45 p.m. JST and made available concurrently on Crunchyroll for international viewers, including a same-day English dub release.

This latest installment sees Mizuha fleeing her home in shock and confusion after discovering her mother, Izumi, in a tragic state. Fushi, sensing Mizuha’s profound loneliness and despair, extends his help, seemingly setting aside his complex history with the Hayase family.

The Gripping Narrative of “The Missing One”

Episode 4 plunges viewers further into the contemporary arc of To Your Eternity, focusing heavily on the character of Mizuha Hayase, a high school student whose life takes a dark turn. The narrative builds upon the events of Episode 3, where Mizuha’s turbulent relationship with her mother and her family’s impending move were highlighted.

Mizuha’s Descent and the Hayase Legacy

Prior to the shocking discovery, Mizuha visits her grandfather, who reveals the legend of the Guardian Force and her ancestor Hayase’s enduring obsession with Fushi. Witnessing Fushi firsthand solidifies this myth for Mizuha, igniting within her a fervent desire for “true perfection” that she believes can only be achieved through him. Her internal struggles are brought to the forefront as she grapples with the perceived imperfections of her friends and family, viewing her mother as merely a “trophy-obsessed parent” and dreading the inevitability of aging. A minor but significant detail, the discovery that her mother’s “family heirloom” hairpin is a cheap item from a ¥300 store, further shatters her perception of perfection and her family’s values.

The episode culminates in a chilling cliffhanger: Mizuha blacks out, only to awaken at home with a bloody knife in her hand, strongly implying she murdered her mother. This traumatic event leads to her desperate flight, setting the stage for Fushi’s involvement.

Fushi’s Compassion Amidst Conflict

Despite the historical animosity and “grudge” between Fushi and the Hayase clan — stemming from Hayase’s relentless pursuit and attempts to capture him across generations — Fushi’s innate empathy drives him to reach out to Mizuha. His intervention is a testament to his evolving understanding of human emotions and his persistent desire to alleviate suffering, even when it involves descendants of his former adversaries. The synopsis indicates that a “shocking truth” is unveiled the morning after Fushi’s encounter with Mizuha, promising further twists in the storyline.

Season 3: The Modern World Arc

To Your Eternity Season 3 officially premiered on October 4, 2025, taking Fushi into the “Present World” or “New World” arc of Yoshitoki Ōima’s acclaimed manga series. This season marks a significant shift, with Fushi exploring modern society and reuniting with reborn friends. Sota Yokote has taken over as director for this season, with Kiyoko Sayama serving as chief director, and the animation is produced by Drive and STUDIO MASSKET.

The third season is slated to have 22 episodes, covering the entirety of the Modern Arc. While some fans speculate about a potential Season 4 to cover the manga’s final “Future Arc,” Season 3 is widely anticipated to bring Fushi’s journey in the present day to a comprehensive close, potentially serving as the finale for the entire anime adaptation as the manga concluded in June 2025. Crunchyroll is exclusively streaming the series outside of Asia, offering both subbed and same-day dubbed versions.
