Manga artist Kaoru Mori has announced that her acclaimed series A Bride’s Story and Aki Irie’s Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest will continue serialization under a new company, Yukiwarisō. This move comes after Kadokawa’s Aokishi magazine ceased publishing their works in February, prompting a search for new publication avenues.
The announcement was made by Mori in a “Kinkyō Oshirase Iroiro Manga” update, confirming that Yukiwarisō will be the new publisher for both popular series.
A New Chapter for Beloved Manga Series
The shift to Yukiwarisō marks a new phase for both A Bride’s Story and Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest. Both series had previously moved to Aokishi from Harta magazine when Aokishi initially launched. Kadokawa’s Aokishi magazine had undergone a renewal, leading to some works continuing and others, including Mori’s and Irie’s, moving in a different direction.
Yukiwarisō’s Publishing Approach
While Yukiwarisō will not operate with a traditional magazine format, Kaoru Mori has assured fans that the serialization pace and the release schedule for compiled book volumes will remain consistent with prior arrangements. This commitment aims to provide a seamless transition for readers following the popular manga.
In addition to Mori’s and Irie’s works, Yukiwarisō is set to publish other titles, including Ichika Ootsuka’s Piccolina, Moe Yasubara’s Aubrey, Masahiko Dairaku’s Guratatō Nikki, and a new work by Tomoya Sakata, alongside other new writers.
The Enduring Legacy of Kaoru Mori and Aki Irie
Kaoru Mori’s A Bride’s Story began serialization in 2008 and is known for its intricate artwork and compelling historical romance set along the 19th-century Silk Road. The series has garnered critical acclaim, winning the Prix Intergénérations at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2012 and the 7th Manga Taishō Award in 2014. Yen Press publishes A Bride’s Story in English, with the latest volume, Volume 15, expected to be released in December 2025.
Aki Irie’s Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest, launched in 2016, also enjoys a dedicated readership. Both artists have previously hosted a joint art exhibition at the Setagaya Literary Museum in Tokyo.
