Manga artist Nagabe, known for critically acclaimed works such as The Girl From the Other Side, has officially launched a new Boys’ Love (BL) series titled “Table” in the December issue of Libre’s Be-Boy Gold magazine on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The announcement was made by Nagabe on their X (formerly Twitter) account.
A Tale of Desire: “Table” Explores a Wolf’s Primal Longing
“Table” delves into a Boys’ Love narrative centered on an anthropomorphic wolf who harbors a unique desire to be devoured by a fox. This latest serialization is an expansion of Nagabe’s earlier one-shot manga, “Escalate,” which was previously featured in the “Kemono/Jingai BL Special” anthology in July 2017. Fans can anticipate Nagabe’s distinctive art style and exploration of complex, often dark, themes within this new BL offering.
Nagabe’s Continued Venture into Boys’ Love
Nagabe has consistently explored diverse relationships and non-human characters throughout their career. While “Table” marks a new serialized BL work, it is not the only recent Boys’ Love title from the mangaka.
“Eat”: Another Recent Anthropomorphic BL Release
Earlier in 2024 and 2025, another Boys’ Love manga by Nagabe titled “Eat” was released in Japanese and received English listings. “Eat” presents an anthropomorphic story focusing on Professor Lufria, a stern wolf law professor, who secretly finds pleasure in observing others eat. His hidden obsession takes a new turn when a student bites him, awakening a deeper hunger that intertwines passion, intimacy, and the thrill of being consumed. This standalone work further showcases Nagabe’s intricate storytelling and unique approach to the Boys’ Love genre, often involving beastmen and exploring unconventional desires.
Previous Works and Acclaim
Nagabe’s bibliography includes popular series such as The Girl From the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún, which concluded in March 2021, and Monotone Blue, which also ended its serialization in March 2021. Their works are recognized for their distinct art style, often described as delicate yet haunting, and their ability to craft unique narratives that resonate with readers. The launch of “Table” continues Nagabe’s exploration of profound and sometimes unsettling desires within the Boys’ Love genre, solidifying their reputation as a versatile and imaginative storyteller.
