Masaya Hokazono, the acclaimed manga artist known for his horror series Inugami, has launched a new manga titled Ryōjin Nikki. The series made its debut on October 25, 2025. This new work adds another title to Hokazono’s extensive bibliography, which frequently delves into the horror genre.

A New Chapter for the Veteran Manga Artist

Hokazono’s latest endeavor, Ryōjin Nikki, marks a significant development for fans eagerly anticipating his next project. While specific details about the plot of Ryōjin Nikki are emerging, its launch date places it as his most recent contribution to the manga landscape.

Hokazono’s Legacy in Horror Manga

Masaya Hokazono has carved a niche for himself in the horror manga genre with works that often feature dark and unsettling themes. His most widely recognized series, Inugami, originally ran in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine from 1996 to 2002, spanning 14 volumes. A modified version, Inugami Kai, was also later produced. Inugami centers around a boy named Fumiki and a dog named 23, who embark on a mission to save the world alongside their friend Mika.

Beyond Inugami, Hokazono’s impactful works include Pumpkin Night, a slasher manga about a bullied girl seeking revenge, and Kichikujima (also known as Freak Island), which explores a killer family on an abandoned island. He is also recognized for the “Ihon” horror manga series, which includes Kuro Ihon (The Black Tome), Aka Ihon (The Red Tome), and Shiro Ihon (The White Tome), with Yami Ihon (The Dark Tome) launching in 2020.

What to Expect from Ryōjin Nikki

Given Hokazono’s established style, Ryōjin Nikki is expected to deliver the gripping narratives and unsettling atmosphere that his readership has come to appreciate. His works often blend elements of suspense, psychological horror, and gore, creating distinct and memorable experiences for readers. The new series will likely continue this tradition, drawing upon his expertise in crafting compelling horror stories.

Further information regarding the publication platform and detailed synopsis of Ryōjin Nikki is anticipated as the series progresses.
