Netflix and Crunchyroll are set to expand their “Detective Conan” anime offerings with a second curated collection of episodes titled “Rivals of the Great Detective,” launching on November 1. This new selection follows the successful debut of the “Conan vs. The Black Organization” collection earlier this year, continuing TMS Entertainment’s efforts to make the long-running series more accessible to Western audiences ahead of its 30th anniversary.

Expanding the World of “Detective Conan” with a New Collection

The upcoming “Rivals of the Great Detective” collection will focus on key supporting characters, delving into the intricate relationships and conflicts that define the “Detective Conan” universe beyond protagonist Shinichi Kudo, who, as a child, goes by Conan Edogawa. While specific episode numbers for this collection have not yet been disclosed by TMS Entertainment, the title suggests an emphasis on Conan’s formidable allies and cunning adversaries. This approach allows both new viewers to grasp the breadth of the series’ cast and veteran fans to revisit pivotal character-centric storylines.

Dual Platform Release for Global Reach

As with the previous collection, “Rivals of the Great Detective” will be available on both Netflix and Crunchyroll. This dual-platform release strategy maximizes reach for “Detective Conan” fans across different streaming preferences. Episodes will be offered in their original Japanese audio with English subtitles, alongside a brand-new English dub. The introduction of a dedicated English dub aims to draw in new viewers who may prefer dubbed content, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for a series that boasts over 1,000 episodes in Japan.

The Precedent Set by “Conan vs. The Black Organization”

The first collection, “Conan vs. The Black Organization,” launched on July 3, 2025, marking a significant moment for “Detective Conan” fans in the U.S. This initial selection featured critical episodes that explored the overarching narrative of Conan’s confrontation with the mysterious Black Organization, the syndicate responsible for his shrinking.

Key episodes included in the first collection were:

  • Episode 1: “Roller Coaster Murder Case”
  • Episode 2: “Company President’s Daughter Kidnapping Case”
  • Episode 128: “The Black Organization: One Billion Yen Robbery Case”
  • Episode 129: “The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case” (a two-hour special)
  • Episodes 176-178: “Reunion with the Black Organization”
  • Episodes 230-231: “The Mysterious Passenger”

Many of these episodes had not been officially available in the U.S. prior to this release, making the collection a landmark event for the series’ international fandom.

Celebrating 30 Years of Mystery and Deduction

These curated episode collections are part of a broader campaign by TMS Entertainment to celebrate the impending 30th anniversary of the “Detective Conan” anime, which is set to occur in January 2026. The series, based on Gosho Aoyama’s immensely popular manga, has captivated audiences worldwide with its intricate mysteries, memorable characters, and enduring appeal. The anniversary celebrations aim to honor the series’ legacy while introducing it to a new generation of viewers.

Beyond Streaming: “Detective Conan: Cinema Saturdays”

In addition to the streaming collections, TMS Entertainment has also initiated a “Detective Conan: Cinema Saturdays” campaign on YouTube. This initiative involves streaming theatrical “Detective Conan” films weekly, providing another avenue for fans to engage with the franchise. For the month of November, three additional films are scheduled to stream:

  • Detective Conan: The Last Wizard of the Century (streaming November 1)
  • Detective Conan: The Private Eyes’ Requiem (streaming November 8)
  • Detective Conan: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital (streaming November 15)

These concurrent campaigns underscore a concerted effort to leverage the rich history of “Detective Conan” across various platforms, building excitement and engagement leading up to the major anniversary milestone. The availability of both key TV episodes and feature films ensures a comprehensive viewing experience for fans.

The expansion of “Detective Conan” content on major streaming platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll, coupled with the ongoing “Cinema Saturdays” event, signals a robust strategy to honor the series’ storied past while forging a strong connection with its future global audience. Fans can look forward to diving into the world of deduction and mystery with “Rivals of the Great Detective” starting November 1.
