What is Gnosia About? The Sci-Fi Social Deduction Premise
Gnosia is an anime adaptation of the popular 2019 video game, which is a visual novel and social deduction RPG. The story unfolds on a lone spaceship infiltrated by a shapeshifting enemy known as Gnosia. These extraterrestrial beings pretend to be human, aiming to eradicate the crew one by one.
The Fight for Survival: Identifying the Imposter
To survive, the remaining crew members must engage in daily discussions to identify the most suspicious individual among them and place them into “cold sleep” (cryo-sleep). This desperate measure is their only hope of purging the Gnosia from the ship. However, the chilling reality is that it’s nearly impossible to discern whether the person put into cold sleep was truly a Gnosia or an innocent scapegoat, sacrificed by the real enemy.
A Protagonist Trapped in a Time Loop
Adding another layer of intrigue, the protagonist, Yuri, finds herself trapped in a perpetual time loop. Regardless of the outcome of the daily votes, Yuri relives the first day of the crisis repeatedly. To break free from this temporal prison, Yuri must uncover the truth behind both the Gnosia threat and the enigmatic time loop itself. The anime blends elements of science fiction with a “whodunit” mystery, reminiscent of popular social deduction games.
Production Details: Bringing Gnosia to the Screen
The Gnosia anime is directed by Kazuya Ichikawa (known for The World Ends with You The Animation) at studio domerica. Jukki Hanada (Girls Band Cry) handles the series composition and scripts, while Arisa Matsuura (Outburst Dreamer Boys) adapts the original character designs by Kotori for animation. The compelling musical score is composed by Hideyuki Fukasawa (Tokyo 24th Ward). Crunchyroll is streaming the Gnosia anime in numerous regions, including North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
The series initially premiered in October 2025, and with the English dub launching on November 1, a wider audience can now join the crew’s perilous journey to uncover the truth.
