Kadokawa has officially unveiled the first teaser promo video for the highly anticipated second season of the Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! TV anime, confirming its premiere in 2026. The announcement was accompanied by a new teaser visual and details on the returning cast and staff, promising more lighthearted adventures from the beloved chibi spin-off.
A Return to the Chibi World of Literary Detectives
The teaser video offers fans a glimpse into the comedic slice-of-life world of Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! 2, which reimagines the supernatural-powered characters from the main series in adorable chibi form. The spin-off focuses on their daily antics and humorous interactions, providing a stark contrast to the often intense and action-packed original Bungo Stray Dogs narrative.
The newly released teaser visual features chibi versions of key characters including Atsushi Nakajima and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa forming a human pyramid in front of the Armed Detective Agency, with Osamu Dazai, Doppo Kunikida, Kyōka Izumi, and Chūya Nakahara observing. This playful imagery sets the tone for the upcoming season, promising the same gag-driven humor that characterized its predecessor.
Familiar Voices and Creative Team Back for More Fun
Fans will be delighted to learn that the main voice cast from the first season of Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! is set to return, reprising their roles for the second installment. This includes:
- Yūto Uemura as Atsushi Nakajima

- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Doppo Kunikida
- Sumire Morohoshi as Kyōka Izumi
- Kenshō Ono as Ryūnosuke Akutagawa

The production staff also sees many familiar faces returning to bring the chibi characters to life. Toshihiro Kikuchi is back in the director’s chair, with Hiromi Daimi once again handling character designs. Taku Iwasaki will return to compose the music. Animation production will once again be a collaboration between studios BONES and Nomad. Tōko Machida is in charge of the series’ scripts, and Kazuhiro Wakabayashi is the sound director.
The Bungo Stray Dogs Universe Continues to Expand
The Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! anime is based on the spin-off manga by Neco Kanai, which began serialization on Kadokawa’s Young Ace UP! manga website in December 2015. The first anime season aired for 12 episodes in Winter 2021, and was simulcast by Crunchyroll.
The original Bungo Stray Dogs manga, created by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, has been running in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine since 2012. It centers on individuals with supernatural abilities named after famous literary figures, engaging in conflicts between the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia in Yokohama. The main series has inspired five anime seasons, two films (Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple and Bungo Stray Dogs: The Movie – Beast), and numerous light novels and manga spin-offs, showcasing the enduring popularity of the franchise.
With Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! 2 set for a 2026 release, fans can look forward to more comedic adventures and heartwarming moments with their favorite characters. The first season of Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! and all five seasons of the main Bungo Stray Dogs anime are available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
