Manga UP! Global has officially announced the addition of Ibarakino and Yū Kajii’s fantasy manga, “The Noble Unlocker’s Ascendancy” (titled Ore Dake Status Open Dekiru Ken: Ore Dake Status Kakunin Dekire Sekai de Cheat Skill mo S-kyū Item mo Erabi-hōdai in Japanese), to its English-language service. The new series promises an action-packed fantasy adventure centered around a protagonist with a deceptively powerful skill.
A New Fantasy Isekai Joins the Ranks
The digital manga platform, operated by Square Enix, continues to expand its extensive library of English-translated titles, catering to a growing global audience. The addition of “The Noble Unlocker’s Ascendancy” provides readers with another exciting entry into the popular fantasy and “isekai” (another world) genres. Manga UP! Global has been steadily adding new series since its international launch in July 2022, offering over 200 titles across various genres.
The Story of Hiraku Mato and the “Unlocker” Skill
“The Noble Unlocker’s Ascendancy” introduces readers to fifteen-year-old Hiraku Mato, born into a prestigious family renowned for its master swordsmen. His future seems predetermined to inherit the fabled “Sword Saint” skill. However, his coming-of-age appraisal ceremony takes an unexpected turn when he is granted the seemingly useless “Unlocker” skill.
Initially dismissed as mundane, capable only of opening simple things like doors and windows, Hiraku’s skill holds a profound secret. A fortuitous discovery reveals its true, cheat-like potential: the ability to “unlock” hidden status windows, secret abilities, and even rare drop items. Armed with this extraordinary power, Hiraku embarks on a journey to forge his own destiny, defying the expectations placed upon him.
From Web Novel to Manga Adaptation
The original story, penned by Ibarakino, first appeared on the Japanese user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in August 2023. Yū Kajii then brought the narrative to life through illustrations for the manga adaptation, which began serialization on Manga UP! in Japan on January 26 of the current year. Square Enix released the first compiled volume of the manga on April 7. Ibarakino is also known for other works such as “Even Given the Worthless ‘Appraiser’ Class, I’m Actually the Strongest” and “The Healer Ditches the Boonies to Become an S-Rank Adventurer”.
