The highly anticipated anime adaptation of “Romelia War Chronicle: The Count’s Daughter Rallies an Army in the Wake of Mankind’s Victory” (Romelia Senki: Hakushaku Reijo, Mao o Taoshita Ato mo Jinrui Yabaso Dakara Guntai Soshiki Suru) is officially slated for a 2026 television premiere. The announcement was accompanied by a captivating teaser visual, offering fans a first look at the upcoming fantasy military series.
The anime, based on Ryō Ariyama’s light novel series and its manga adaptation, will bring to life the post-war struggles of Countess Romelia, who, despite humanity’s victory over the Demon King, recognizes the lingering threats and political instability.
Plot Overview: A New Battle After the Demon King’s Defeat
“Romelia War Chronicle” delves into a world grappling with the aftermath of a monumental victory. The long and arduous war against the Demon King has concluded, and humanity celebrates a newfound peace. However, beneath the surface of this apparent tranquility, political tensions and unrest begin to simmer. Romelia, a young count’s daughter who once journeyed with the hero’s party, finds herself quietly cast aside upon her return home, her engagement annulled by Prince Henri.
Dismissed for lacking flashy magic or sword skills, Romelia possesses a keen intellect, strategic mind, and strong leadership abilities. She foresees the cracks forming in the post-victory world—monsters still roam, nations are unstable, and power struggles are brewing. Refusing to fade into obscurity, Romelia resolves to use her unique talents to build her own army, not for personal glory, but to protect humanity from the burgeoning threats that others fail to perceive. The series follows her journey as she navigates a world that believes the war is over, while she knows the real battle for humanity’s future has just begun.
The Road to Animation: From Web Novel to TV Series
The “Romelia War Chronicle” began its journey as a web novel on the user-generated publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in August 2019. Shogakukan later acquired the series, publishing it as a light novel under their Gagaga Books imprint, with illustrations by Kodama (for the first volume) and Ryō Kamito (from the second volume onwards). As of September 2024, five volumes and one side story volume have been released, with the series slated to conclude with its sixth volume.
A manga adaptation, illustrated by Ryō Kamito, began serialization via the Manga Doa app in April 2021 and has been collected into four tankōbon volumes by Mag Garden. In March 2025, Seven Seas Entertainment announced they had licensed the manga for English publication, with the first volume expected in January 2026. The series, across its novel and manga forms, has surpassed 500,000 copies in circulation. An anime adaptation was initially announced on September 10, 2024, and was later confirmed to be a television series.
