Fans of the beloved romantic comedy anime, The Dangers in My Heart (Japanese title: Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu), can anticipate its big-screen debut as “The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie” is set for a theatrical release across multiple international territories, including the United States, Mexico, and several European countries. While a Japanese premiere is slated for February 13, 2026, specific international release dates and distributors are expected to be announced soon.

The upcoming film is a compilation of the popular television anime series, featuring re-edited scenes from its two seasons, alongside brand-new footage that continues the story beyond the second season’s conclusion.

Expanding the World of Kyotaro and Anna on the Big Screen

“The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie” promises to offer both returning fans and newcomers a chance to experience the evolving relationship between the introverted Kyotaro Ichikawa and the class idol Anna Yamada. The film will incorporate pivotal moments from the series, enhanced by new content that delves into post-Season 2 events. This includes a live performance scene featuring Kyotaro’s sister, Kana, and a much-anticipated “certain moment” between the main duo.

The original voice cast, including Shun Horie as Kyotaro Ichikawa and Hina Yomiya as Anna Yamada, are reprising their roles, expressing excitement for fans to witness the story on a larger scale.

International Reach for the Romantic Comedy

Confirmed territories for the theatrical release include the United States, Germany, Italy, France, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and additional Central American regions. Further international territories are expected to be revealed at a later date, with details regarding ticket sales and specific screening schedules still pending.

TV Asahi and HIDIVE previously offered a sneak peek of the movie at Anime Expo 2025, hinting at the film’s global ambitions and building anticipation among the international anime community.

The Creative Team Behind the Film

Shin-Ei Animation, the studio responsible for the critically acclaimed TV anime series, is producing the movie. Hiroaki Akagi, who served as chief director for the television seasons, returns to direct the film. The screenplay is penned by Jukki Hanada, with Masato Katsumata handling character designs and Kensuke Ushio composing the music.

From Manga to Movie: The Series’ Journey

The Dangers in My Heart originates from Norio Sakurai’s popular web manga series, serialized on Champion Cross (formerly Manga Cross). The manga, praised for its wholesome romantic comedy, has garnered a significant following, leading to its successful anime adaptation. The first season aired from April to June 2023, followed by a second season from January to March 2024. This compilation film aims to bridge the gap between the existing anime content and potentially future seasons, incorporating story elements from volumes 9 through 12 of the manga.
