The highly anticipated third season of Record of Ragnarok is set to premiere on December 10, with Warner Bros. Japan and Netflix having released a new trailer that offers a glimpse into the upcoming battles, new cast members, and the official opening theme song. The anime will be available to stream globally on Netflix.

Unveiling the New Trailer and Epic Battles Ahead

The recently released third official trailer for Record of Ragnarok Season 3 intensifies the excitement for the continuation of the gods-versus-humanity showdown. The trailer showcases fierce and emotional duels, teasing the seventh, eighth, and ninth rounds of Ragnarok. These pivotal battles will determine the fate of humanity, which currently stands at a 3-3 tie with the gods after six rounds. Fans can expect high-stakes conflicts, a spectacular display of strong convictions, and the unfolding of hidden motives and unseen schemes behind the scenes.

New Additions to the Record of Ragnarok Cast

The upcoming season introduces fresh voices to its already stellar cast, bringing more iconic figures from history and mythology to life. Shun Horie will join the cast as Nostradamus. Other previously announced new cast members include Makoto Furukawa as Nikola Tesla, Daisuke Namikawa as Beelzebub, Hiroshi Shirokuma as King Leonidas, and Kenichi Suzumura as Apollo. The cast also features Shiori Mikami as Alvitr, Misako Tomioka as Göndul, and Mai Tōdō as Geirölul. These new additions are expected to further enrich the dynamic interactions and intense narratives characteristic of the series.

The Electrifying Opening and Ending Theme Songs

Music plays a crucial role in setting the tone for Record of Ragnarok‘s epic clashes. The new trailer officially announced “Dead or Alive” by the band GLAY as the opening theme song for the third season. TAKURO of GLAY commented on the honor of contributing to the series, stating that “Dead or Alive” was crafted with the epic story and the characters’ struggles in mind, combining spectacular action with rock intensity. Additionally, Saori Hayami wrote and performs the ending theme song, “Last breath, Last record,” which was previewed in an earlier trailer.

December 10 Debut on Netflix

Record of Ragnarok Season 3 is slated to premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 10. This global release ensures that fans worldwide can simultaneously dive into the next chapter of this thrilling anime. The series, based on the hit manga illustrated by Azychika, and written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui, has sold over 18 million copies worldwide. The first season debuted in June 2021, followed by the second season in two parts in January and July 2023. The third season will continue the legacy of intense one-on-one battles between gods and humans for the survival of humanity.

Production Team and Legacy

The third season sees a refreshed production team. Koichi Hatsumi (known for Tokyo Revengers) takes over as director, with Yasuyuki Mutō serving as the main writer. Yōko Tanabe and Hisashi Kawashima are the new character designers, while Yasuharu Takanashi returns to compose the dynamic soundtrack. The animation will be handled by Yumeta Company and Maru Animation, with Graphinica, involved in previous seasons, no longer listed in the production credits. The Record of Ragnarok manga has been serialized in Monthly Comic Zenon since November 2017 and has spawned several spin-off series, including Shūmatsu no Walküre Kitan: Jack the Ripper no Jikenbo and Ryo Fu Hō Sen Hishōden, further expanding its rich lore. A mobile game, Record of Ragnarok: The Day of Judgment, also launched earlier this year.
