Shonengahosha’s Young King Ours GH magazine has announced its cessation of print publication, with the January 2026 issue serving as its last. The magazine’s editorial staff framed this decision as a “graduation” from print, aligning with current industry trends towards digital distribution. Moving forward, the manga serialized in Young King Ours GH will gradually transition to a new dedicated website called COMIC Y-OURs, scheduled to launch on January 13.

The End of an Era for Young King Ours GH

The announcement was made on Monday, November 17, 2025, confirming that the long-running seinen manga magazine would no longer be available in print after its upcoming January 2026 issue. This move reflects a broader shift within the manga industry, where digital platforms are increasingly becoming the primary medium for content delivery and consumption. The magazine, which caters primarily to older teen and young adult male audiences, first launched as Monthly Young King in October 2006 before being rebranded to its current name, Young King Ours GH, in August 2013.

Over its nearly two-decade run, Young King Ours GH has been home to various notable manga series. These include titles such as Akuyaku Reijō Tensei Oji-san, Ishida to Asakura, Soul Liquid Chambers, and Eden (an adaptation of the Netflix original anime), among others. Its sister publication, Young King Ours, has also featured well-known series like Hellsing and Drifters.

New Digital Home: COMIC Y-OURs

The transitioning manga titles will find a new home on COMIC Y-OURs, a planned website set to debut on January 13. This new digital platform is poised to continue the legacy of the print magazine, offering readers a seamless shift to online consumption.

First Manga to Migrate

Among the first series confirmed to move to the COMIC Y-OURs site is Michiro Ueyama’s popular Akuyaku Reijō Tensei Oji-san. This strategic move aims to retain the existing readership and provide continuity for ongoing series.

Concluding and Launching Titles in the Final Issue

Despite its impending closure, the final January 2026 issue of Young King Ours GH notably featured the launch of two new manga series: Natsumi Ouchi’s Cherry×Cherry and Yukari Koala’s Magical Agent. Additionally, a one-shot titled “Ike! Occult Kenkyūbu” by Sumihito Itami and Satoshi Arai was also published. Conversely, Hosana Tanaka’s Megami no Ko manga concluded its serialization with this final print issue. Tanaka had launched Megami no Ko in Young King Ours GH in November 2023, with its first compiled book volume released in September 2024.

Implications for Readers and the Industry

The “graduation” of Young King Ours GH from print to a digital-first model highlights the evolving landscape of manga publishing. While some readers may mourn the loss of a physical magazine, the shift to COMIC Y-OURs signifies an adaptation to contemporary reading habits, promising accessibility and potentially faster updates for ongoing series. This transition also underscores the increasing dominance of digital platforms in the global manga market.
