The manga adaptation of Piero Karasu’s popular light novel series, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady (Tensei Ōjo to Tensai Reijō no Mahō Kakumei), is set to conclude with its ninth compiled volume. The announcement came with the release of the eighth volume, signaling the impending end of Harutsugu Nadaka’s artistic rendition of the beloved yuri fantasy story.
The series, often abbreviated as TenTen, has captivated readers with its unique blend of isekai, yuri, and fantasy elements, focusing on Princess Anisphia and the brilliant noblewoman Euphyllia.
Journey of a Reincarnated Princess and a Genius Young Lady
The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady began its journey as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in February 2019, concluding in August 2021. Fujimi Shobo later acquired the series, publishing it in print with illustrations by Yuri Kisaragi under their Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint since January 2020. Yen Press holds the North American licensing rights for both the light novel and its manga adaptation.
The Manga Adaptation by Harutsugu Nadaka
The manga adaptation, illustrated by Harutsugu Nadaka, launched in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Maoh magazine in July 2020. The eighth volume of the manga confirmed that the series will wrap up with its ninth volume. Yen Press has been actively publishing the manga in English, with the sixth volume released in December 2024. The narrative follows Princess Anisphia, who, after regaining memories of her past life, dedicates herself to magicology despite her inability to use traditional magic. Her path intertwines with Lady Euphyllia, a genius noblewoman whose engagement is unjustly broken, leading to a magical revolution that impacts their lives and the kingdom.
Anime Adaptation and Continued Popularity
The series further expanded its reach with an anime television series adaptation produced by Diomedéa, which aired from January to March 2023. Crunchyroll streamed the series outside of Asia, while Muse Communication licensed it in South and Southeast Asia. The anime helped bring the charming story of Anisphia and Euphyllia to a wider audience, though it covered the content of the first three light novels in its 12 episodes.
The light novel series itself continues, with Kadokawa publishing the 11th volume in June 2020 and the 12th volume slated for January 2025. The light novels have consistently performed well, with the series ranking #10 on BookWalker’s top-selling titles for 2023. As of February 2024, the cumulative number of copies across the series has exceeded 1 million.
Fans can look forward to the conclusion of the manga adaptation as it brings Nadaka’s visual storytelling to a close, while the original light novel series by Piero Karasu continues to explore the magical world and the evolving relationship between the two heroines.
