A new “Special First Look” video for the highly anticipated Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers anime has revealed additional cast members and detailed production staff, confirming a split-season run beginning in January 2026. The series, a direct sequel to the classic Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (known as Ronin Warriors in the West), marks the franchise’s return to television after nearly 37 years.
Unveiling the New Generation of Samurai Troopers
The newly released “Special First Look Ver. 1” video, which debuted in October 2025, showcased fresh scenes and introduced the full lineup of the new generation of Samurai Troopers. These five young warriors will don the iconic Yoroi Gear to combat a demonic invasion in present-day Shinjuku.
The main voice cast for the new heroes includes:
- Gai: Hiiro Ishibashi
- Kaito Uesugi / Sōkyū no Kaito: Junya Enoki
- Shion Ishida / Senkō no Shion: Kentaro Kumagai
- Yamato Hojo / Kōya no Yamato: Shunsuke Takeuchi
- Musashi Hojo / Suiren no Musashi: Ayumu Murase
Hiiro Ishibashi will voice the protagonist, Gai, who is a 14-year-old recognized for his potential as a Samurai Trooper and will wear the “Armor of Blaze”. The remaining four cast members were revealed in a teaser trailer in September 2025, completing the new team tasked with defending humanity.
Key Production Staff and Studio
Sunrise, the renowned animation studio behind the original series, is producing the Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers anime. Leading the creative team is director Yoichi Fujita, known for his work on popular titles like Gintama and Osomatsu-san.
The series composition and script are being handled by Shogo Muto, recognized for his contributions to Kamen Rider Build and Crows Zero. Character designs for the main cast are provided by Yuhei Murota, whose previous work includes the Love Live! franchise.
For fans of the original Samurai Troopers, Hideo Okamoto, the armor designer from the 1988 series, is returning to contribute to the new “Yoroi Gear” concepts, with Takuya Suzuki handling the animation Yoroi Gear design. Villain designs are credited to Tsukasa Kotobuki, and Shuji Katayama (Team-MAX) is composing the music for the series. The original story is credited to Hajime Yatate, the collective penname for Sunrise’s creative staff.
Storyline and Broadcast Details
The new anime will unfold an entirely original story set in modern-day Shinjuku. The plot centers on five young samurai who emerge to protect humanity when the seal imprisoning the demonic Youja realm is broken, leading to an invasion of demon soldiers into the human world.
Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers is confirmed for a split-season run, consisting of two cours, and is scheduled to begin broadcasting in January 2026. This long-awaited sequel aims to blend the essence of the original series with a contemporary setting, promising to excite both long-time fans and new viewers.
