A Look into the Story: Love Across Faction Lines
The anime is based on the light novel series written by Suisei and illustrated by La-na, which originally began as a web novel in July 2013 on Shosetsuka ni Naro. Futabasha later published three volumes under its Monster Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation by Kairi is also serialized on Manga Gaogao and Gaogao Monster Plus.
The story centers on Yoki, a former human who is reincarnated as a mid-level demon in a fantasy world. His quiet life as a subordinate in the Demon Lord’s castle takes an unexpected turn when the Hero’s party attacks. Despite his demonic nature, Yoki finds himself falling in love at first sight with Cecilia, the kind-hearted and beautiful cleric from the Hero’s party.
