A New Vision for a Classic Saga
The new Fist of the North Star anime adaptation, often referred to as a remake, aims to faithfully capture the essence of Buronson and Tetsuo Hara’s original manga. While it will incorporate significant use of CG animation, the production team has expressed a commitment to staying true to the source material more so than previous adaptations. The original Fist of the North Star manga, which first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1983, has sold over 100 million copies and is celebrated for its distinctive artwork, memorable characters, and the ultimate assassination martial art, Hokuto Shinken.
Commemorating “Fist of the North Star Day”
The decision to reveal these crucial cast members on September 13th was strategic, as it marks Japan’s official “Fist of the North Star Day.” This date commemorates the manga’s initial launch in 1983, making it an apt occasion for major announcements regarding the franchise’s future. The special YouTube program, titled “Itʼs Fist of the North Star DAY! Gather Around, All Four Brothers!!”, served as the platform for these revelations.
Beyond the Main Series: A Spinoff in the Works
In addition to the main anime remake, fans can also look forward to a short anime spinoff titled Fist of the North Star: Elegy of Ken-Oh’s Army Grunts. This comedic series, based on Hiroshi Kurao’s gag manga, is slated to begin broadcasting and streaming in January 2026. It will follow the struggles of protagonist Nobu, who attempts to survive in the excessively dangerous environment of the Ken-Oh Army.
