Digital manga platform emaqi has announced a substantial update to its catalog for December 2025, introducing five new manga series for readers in the United States and Canada. Among the notable additions are the high school romantic comedy “Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan” and the fantasy adventure “The Nectar of the Divine Mantra,” alongside three other diverse titles. This expansion reinforces emaqi’s commitment to bringing a wider array of officially licensed Japanese manga to its growing audience.
Dive into Emaqi’s Latest Manga Additions
The newly available titles cater to various tastes, ranging from quirky school life to epic fantasy. These series come from renowned Japanese publishers including Akita Shoten, Shonengahosha, and Coamix.
“Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan” Joins the Roster
One of the standout additions is Toshinori Sogabe’s “Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan,” a school romantic comedy. The story centers on Hodaka Saotome, the lone male student in Moteshiro Prefectural High, an institution overwhelmingly populated by 359 “gyaru” high school girls. His challenging predicament takes an unexpected turn when he is rescued by Hanako Kuzuryu, a delinquent student, setting the stage for a unique and punishing harem rom-com. The manga is published by Akita Shoten Co., Ltd.
Embark on a Journey with “The Nectar of the Divine Mantra”
For fans of fantasy, emaqi introduces “The Nectar of the Divine Mantra,” penned by Hiroyuki Yoshino and illustrated by Kenetsu Sato. This series follows Princess Sakura, the last survivor of the Adaar Marquessate. She summons Kai Watari, an ordinary young man from another world, into her realm. A dramatic twist occurs when Kai drinks the princess’s mysterious “Nectar,” transforming him into a formidable warrior. This title is also published by Akita Shoten Co., Ltd.
More Titles Round Out December’s Releases
In addition to these highlighted series, emaqi has also added three other manga to its platform:
- “Shi-chan’s Delights” by Shizue Takanashi (Shonengahosha Co., LTD): A heartwarming story about Shi-chan, who grew up surrounded by love and delicious home-cooked meals, exploring the joy of food shared with family.
- “Kitchen by the Sea” by Yasuko Fukumaru (Shonengahosha Co., LTD): This comforting family narrative follows Nozomi as she learns to cook alongside her grandmother after losing her parents, with the manga even featuring delicious recipes.
- “Narusawa Loves the Face You Make When You Eat” by Rei Yamada (Coamix Inc.): A sweet culinary rom-com about a seemingly grumpy loner, Narusawa, who secretly loves watching girls’ happy expressions as they eat delicious food.
Understanding Emaqi: A Growing Digital Manga Destination
Emaqi, launched by Orange Inc., began its service in the United States and Canada in September 2024. The platform positions itself as a digital manga store rather than a subscription service, offering individual volumes for purchase, similar to other e-book retailers. At its launch, emaqi boasted approximately 6,000 volumes from 13 publishers, with a strategic goal to introduce at least one new, previously unpublished English title every week.
Orange Inc. has secured crucial translation, publishing, and distribution rights from major Japanese and U.S. publishers, including SHONENGAHOSHA CO., LTD., Futabasha Publishers Ltd., Akita Publishing Co., Ltd., and Kodansha USA Publishing, LLC. The platform also features exclusive translations and offers a “try it out” feature, allowing readers to sample chapters before committing to a purchase.
While emaqi aims to provide a seamless reading experience and combat piracy by offering legitimate translations, it has also garnered attention for its use of AI-assisted technologies in its localization processes. Orange Inc. clarifies that their approach is human-led, with AI supporting repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency and expand the library of available manga. The company emphasizes its dedication as manga fans to deliver diverse and unique manga to readers. With over 13,000 volumes and 1,700 series by May 2025, emaqi has quickly become a significant player in the North American digital manga market.
