The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Yūgo Kobayashi’s Fermat no Ryōri (Fermat’s Cuisine) has released a brand new main trailer, previewing the opening theme song, “Maillard,” performed by OSHIKIKEIGO. Alongside the trailer, a new visual has also been revealed, heightening anticipation for the series debut on July 5th.

Premiere and Broadcast Details

Fermat no Ryōri is scheduled to premiere on July 5, 2025, airing on TV Asahi and its affiliated networks every Saturday at 11:30 p.m. JST as part of the “IMAnimation” programming block. For viewers outside Japan, international release details are still to be announced.

Story and Characters

Fermat no Ryōri follows the journey of Gaku Kitada, a gifted mathematics scholar whose aspirations are derailed after failing to achieve his dream of competing in the Math Olympiad. With his scholarship revoked, Gaku finds himself working in a school cafeteria, feeling lost and without purpose. His life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Kai Asakura, a brilliant young chef who introduces him to the fascinating intersection of mathematics and cooking.

As Gaku delves into this new world, he discovers a culinary landscape as complex and precise as mathematics itself. He begins to use his mathematical knowledge to create innovative and delicious dishes, blending logic and creativity in the kitchen.

The anime’s main cast includes:

Manga Origins and Previous Adaptations

Fermat no Ryōri is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Yūgo Kobayashi, who is also the author of Aoashi. The manga has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine since September 2018. Kodansha has released five tankobon volumes as of April 2025.

Before the anime adaptation, Fermat no Ryōri was adapted into a 10-episode live-action TV drama series that aired on TBS from October to December 2023, starring Fumiya Takahashi and Jun Shison.
