The popular light novel series A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires is officially getting an anime adaptation. The announcement was made by Hobby Japan on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, much to the excitement of fans of the vengeful fantasy tale.

Anime Adaptation Officially Announced

Hobby Japan confirmed the anime adaptation of Metabo Hagure’s fantasy light novel series, which has also been known by the English title The Furious Princess Decided to Take Revenge. While the news has been met with enthusiasm, specific details regarding the anime’s production, including the animation studio, voice cast, release date, and overall format, have yet to be disclosed.

The Source Material: Light Novel and Manga

A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires originated as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in October 2020. Following its success, Hobby Japan began publishing the series as a light novel under its HJ Novels imprint in May 2022, with seven volumes released to date. The series features illustrations by Masami.

A manga adaptation, illustrated by Onooimo, also commenced serialization in May 2022 on Hobby Japan’s Comic Fire service and has likewise compiled seven volumes as of April 2025. Both the original light novel and its manga adaptation are licensed for English release by J-Novel Club, making them accessible to a wider international audience.

Plot Overview: A Livid Lady’s Quest for Revenge

The story centers on Elizabeth Leiston, the seemingly perfect daughter of a powerful prime minister and the esteemed fiancée of the crown prince of the Kingdom of Haldoria. Her life takes a dramatic and devastating turn when her fiancé publicly annuls their engagement and orchestrates her imprisonment, subsequently spreading damaging rumors about her.

Driven by an “inner fury” and the steadfast encouragement of her loyal waiting maid, Mireille, Elizabeth reconsiders her life’s trajectory. Instead of continuing to serve a country that has so deeply wronged her, she resolves to seek comprehensive revenge against those who betrayed her and to bring down the very kingdom itself. Fortunately for Elizabeth, she is no damsel in distress; she possesses seven powerful magic grimoires, which she intends to use ruthlessly in her quest for vengeance. Her journey sees her forming an alliance with the Yutear Empire and operating under the alias Ellie Leis to achieve her goals.

What We Know So Far (and What We Don’t)

The official announcement from Hobby Japan has confirmed the anime’s existence but has been light on specifics. Fans are eagerly awaiting further information regarding:

  • Release Window: When the anime is expected to premiere.
  • Animation Studio: Which studio will be bringing Elizabeth’s vengeful journey to life.
  • Main Cast and Staff: The voice actors and key production team members.
  • Format: Whether it will be a TV series, OVA, or movie.

As production details emerge, fans can anticipate more information from Hobby Japan and other official channels.
