The upcoming anime adaptation of “A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans” has revealed additional cast members and details regarding its theme songs, building anticipation for its January 2026 premiere. Five new voice actors have joined the roster, and both the opening and ending theme artists have been announced.
Expanded Cast Brings More Demi-Humans to Life
The production committee has announced several new additions to the voice cast, who will portray some of the unique demi-human students attending the school. Manami Numakura is cast as Karin Ryuzaki, Misato Fukuen as Machi Nezu, Reina Ueda as Neneko Kurosawa, Yui Ishikawa as Aoi Wakaba, and Yui Horie as Maki Okonogi.
These new cast members join the previously announced main cast, which includes Toshiki Masuda as the titular misanthropic teacher Rei Hitoma, Sora Amamiya as Kyoka Minazuki, Saori Onishi as Isaki Ohgami, Maria Naganawa as Sui Usami, and Rui Tanabe as Tobari Haneda.
Theme Song Artists Set to Define the Anime’s Sound
Music details for the series have also been unveiled. The opening theme song, titled “Ningen,” will be performed by Masayoshi Oishi, known for his energetic and catchy anime tie-ins.
For the ending theme, titled “Ningen COME TRUE,” the vocal talents of the main heroines’ voice actresses will be featured. Sora Amamiya, Saori Onishi, Maria Naganawa, and Rui Tanabe will perform the song in their respective character roles, promising a charming conclusion to each episode.
Anime Adaptation Set for Early 2026 Release
The “A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans” anime is slated to begin airing in January 2026. The series is an adaptation of the light novel series written by Nijisanji VTuber Kurusu Natsume and illustrated by Sai Izumi.
The story centers on Rei Hitoma, a self-proclaimed misanthrope who takes a teaching job in the mountains, only to discover his new school is for demi-humans aspiring to become full-fledged human beings. He is tasked with teaching a class that includes a mermaid, a werewolf, a rabbit, and a bird, among others. The anime is being directed by Akira Iwanaga at Studio Asread, with Katsuhiko Takayama handling series composition and Maiko Okada designing the characters. Makoto Miyazaki is composing the music. Yen Press publishes the English-language version of the original light novels.
