The popular manga series, Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister (Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi), is set to conclude with its 22nd volume. A Sweet and Supernatural Story
Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Marcey Naito. The story follows Uryū Kamihate, a high school student with aspirations of attending medical school in Kyoto. His life takes an unexpected turn when he’s taken in by the chief priest of the Amagami Shrine. Uryū learns that he must marry one of the priest’s three granddaughters—Yae, Yuna, or Asahi—to live at and eventually inherit the shrine. This sets the stage for a romantic comedy filled with friendship, and a touch of the supernatural.
The manga was first published as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in December 2020. Due to positive reception, it began serialization in the same magazine in April 2021.
From Manga to Anime
The series’ popularity led to an anime television series adaptation. Produced by Drive and directed by Yujiro Abe, the anime aired from October 2, 2024, to March 26, 2025, on TV Tokyo and its affiliates. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, also offering an English dub.
Meet the Amagami Sisters
The heart of the story lies in the relationships between Uryū and the three Amagami sisters:
- Yae: The eldest sister.
- Yuna: The second sister, with a tsundere personality, who excels academically.
- Asahi: The youngest sister, is a member of her school’s track-and-field club.
Each sister brings a unique dynamic to the story, creating a charming and engaging harem romantic comedy.
A Farewell to the Shrine
As the manga approaches its conclusion, fans can anticipate the resolution of Uryū’s relationships with the Amagami sisters and the fate of the Amagami Shrine. The series has been praised for its heartwarming story, likable characters, and blend of romance and supernatural elements. Volume 22 promises to bring a satisfying end to this beloved series.
