The highly anticipated second season of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten (Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsu no Ma ni ka Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken) is officially slated to premiere in April 2026. This announcement was accompanied by the release of a new teaser trailer on June 27, 2025, offering fans a glimpse into the continuing sweet romance of Amane Fujimiya and Mahiru Shiina.
Production Details and Staff Changes
Studio Project No. 9, which animated the first season, will return for the production of Season 2. However, there is a notable change in the directorial role, with Chihiro Kumano (known for The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei) taking over as director. Kumano replaces Wang Lihua, who directed the first season.
Key staff members from the first season are set to return, ensuring continuity in the series’ beloved aesthetic and storytelling. Keiichiro Ochi, who handled the series composition for the inaugural season, will reprise his role. Similarly, Takayuki Noguchi is returning as the character designer, adapting Hanekoto’s original light novel illustrations for the anime. Moe Hyuga will also return to compose the music.
A Continued Tale of Blossoming Romance
The first season, which aired from January to March 2023, captivated audiences with its wholesome depiction of the evolving relationship between the messy high school student Amane Fujimiya and the beautiful “angel” Mahiru Shiina, his next-door neighbor. The new teaser trailer for Season 2 highlights the continued development of their bond, showing glimpses of their tender moments together, picking up after they officially became a couple in the previous installment.
Fans can anticipate a deeper dive into the endearing daily lives of Amane and Mahiru as their relationship blossoms further. The series is based on Saekisan’s popular light novel series, with illustrations by Hanekoto, which began serialization on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in 2018. Crunchyroll streamed the first season, and details regarding streaming for Season 2 will be announced closer to the premiere.
