Konomi Suzuki, the powerhouse vocalist known for her electrifying anime theme songs, has announced that she will be performing a new theme song for the currently airing Summer Pockets anime. The song, titled “Finisteller” (spelling unconfirmed), adds to Suzuki’s existing contributions to the franchise, as she previously performed the opening theme “Alka Tale” and the ending theme “Lasting Moment” for both the visual novel and the anime adaptation.

A New Chapter for Summer Pockets

The Summer Pockets anime premiered in April 2025 and is available for streaming on Crunchyroll in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, Indian subcontinent, and Southeast Asia. The series is based on the Summer Pockets visual novel developed by Key, the studio behind iconic titles like Kanon, Air, and Clannad.

The Story So Far

Summer Pockets tells the story of Hairi Takahara, who travels to the remote island of Torishirojima to sort through his late grandmother’s belongings. There, he encounters a nostalgic atmosphere and several mysterious girls, each searching for something elusive. As Hairi adjusts to island life, he uncovers lost memories and discovers what he had been missing.

Production Details

The anime is directed by Tomoki Kobayashi (Remake Our Life!) at studio feel. Keiichiro Ochi (The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten) is in charge of series composition, while Mai Otsuka (Tearmoon Empire) handles character designs. The music is composed by Jun Maeda, Shinji Orito, Tomohiro Takeshita, Donmaru, and Ryo Mizutsuki.

Konomi Suzuki: The Voice of Summer

Konomi Suzuki’s involvement with Summer Pockets began in 2018 when she performed “Alka Tale” for the visual novel. Her energetic vocals and captivating performances have made her a beloved figure in the anime music scene.

A History of Anime Hits

Suzuki debuted as a singer in 2012 at just 15 years old after winning the Animax All-Japan Anisong Grand Prix. Since then, she has performed theme songs for numerous popular anime series, including:

  • WATAMOTE (“Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui”)
  • No Game No Life (“This Game”)
  • Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World (“Redo,” “Realize,” “Reweave”)
  • Chaos;Child (“Chaos Syndrome”)
  • Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor (“Blow out”)
  • Deca-Dence (“Theater of Life”)
  • Spider Isekai (“Bursty Greedy Spider”)
  • Ren’ai Flops (“Love? Reason why!!”)
  • Bullbuster (“Ganbare to Sakebu Tabi”)
  • Ishura (“Hakka”)

“Finisteller”: What We Know So Far

While details about “Finisteller” are still emerging, it has been revealed that Kai and Shinji Orito, who collaborated on “Alka Tale,” are also involved in the new song. Kai is credited as the lyric writer, and Shinji Orito as the music composer. Ryo Mizutsuki is also contributing to the music and arrangement alongside Orito. As of May 6, 2025, the release date and the episode in which “Finisteller” will debut are unknown.

The Enduring Appeal of Summer Pockets

Summer Pockets has captivated audiences with its heartfelt story, beautiful visuals, and memorable music. The original visual novel was released in Japan in 2018 and later made available to international audiences on Steam in February 2020. An expanded version, Summer Pockets Reflection Blue, was released in 2020 and has been ported to various platforms, including iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.

A Visual Novel Success

The Summer Pockets visual novel follows Hairi Takahara as he explores Torishirojima and interacts with the island’s residents. The gameplay primarily involves reading the story’s narrative and dialogue, accompanied by character sprites and background art. The game also features CG artwork at key moments and a gallery where players can view unlocked CGs and listen to the game’s music.

The Summer Pockets anime boasts a talented cast and crew, including:
