The upcoming “Black Torch” TV anime has officially unveiled its main cast members. The supernatural action series, based on Tsuyoshi Takaki’s manga, will feature four prominent voice actors bringing its key characters to life.
Leading the cast is Ryōta Suzuki as Jiro Azuma, the protagonist descended from a line of shinobi with the ability to communicate with animals. Yōji Ueda will voice Rago, a legendary mononoke also known as the “Black Calamity Star.” Sayaka Senbongi has been cast as Ichika Kishimojin, a serious and justice-driven agent of Black Torch. Rounding out the main quartet is Junya Enoki, who will portray Reiji Kirihara, a calm and logical new recruit who often finds himself at odds with Jiro.
The anime adaptation was first announced in March, marking a surprising return for the series following the manga’s cancellation in 2018. Kei Umabiki is directing the anime at 100Studio, with Gigaemon Ichikawa overseeing and writing the series scripts. Gō Suzuki is handling the character designs, and Yutaka Yamada is composing the music. Viz Media publishes the original manga in English.
