The official website for the anime adaptation of Makoto Akui’s Ao no Orchestra (The Blue Orchestra) manga recently released a new promotional video for its second season, revealing additional cast members and previewing the opening and ending theme songs. The highly anticipated second season is slated to premiere on October 5, 2025, on NHK Educational in Japan and will consist of 21 episodes.

New Talents Join the Ensemble Cast

The newly released promo video confirmed three additional voice actors joining the already talented cast, bringing to life more members of the orchestral club.

Key New Voice Cast Members:

  • Hiroshi Kamiya as Yusuke Sakuma (percussion)
  • Makoto Kaneko as Toshiki Tsutsui (horn), who is also the new orchestra club president
  • Iori Saeki as Rika Togane (trumpet)

These new additions will undoubtedly contribute to the rich sound and character dynamics of the upcoming season. They join returning cast members such as Shouya Chiba as Hajime Aono and Ai Kakuma as Ritsuko Akine, among others.

A Symphony of New Theme Songs

The promotional video offered a first listen to the exhilarating new opening and ending theme songs for Blue Orchestra Season 2.

Opening and Ending Themes:

  • Opening Theme: “Amadeus” by Galileo Galilei
  • Ending Theme: “Ao no Maho” (Blue Magic) by ChoQMay

Galileo Galilei, a Hokkaido-based band that recently resumed activities after a six-year hiatus, is known for their contributions to other anime, including Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS.

The Story Continues: What to Expect in Season 2

Blue Orchestra follows the journey of Hajime Aono, a violin prodigy who had given up on the instrument but is inspired to play again after meeting Ritsuko Akine. Together, they enroll in a high school with a prestigious orchestra club, confronting musical challenges and personal growth alongside their friends and rivals.

Season 2 picks up after the regular concert, with the third-year students having graduated, leaving the younger members to guide the orchestra. This shift promises new responsibilities and challenges for Hajime and his peers, both musically and personally. The narrative will delve deeper into individual relationships and showcase charming musical performances, all while building towards the goal of winning the national competition.

The production team includes Seiji Kishi (known for Assassination Classroom and Angel Beats) as director at studio Nippon Animation. Yuko Kakihara (from Chihayafuru) is handling the series composition and scripts, and Kazuaki Morita (from Tsukigakirei) is the character designer. Music for the series is composed by Akira Kosemura and Kanako Hara, with orchestral performances recorded by the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music Philharmonic Orchestra.
