Crunchyroll announced today that the English dub for the fantasy anime series, Bogus Skill > ~About that time I became able to eat unlimited numbers of Skill Fruits (that kill you)~, will debut on Thursday, November 6. All 12 episodes of the series will be available for streaming, bringing the unique tale of aspiring adventurer Light to English-speaking audiences.
Unlocking a “Bogus Skill” with a Hidden Power
The anime, based on Hanyuu’s original web novels and Air Matsukoto’s manga adaptation, centers on Light, an aspiring adventurer in a world where individuals gain powers by consuming “Skill Fruits.” The critical catch is that eating more than one Skill Fruit typically results in death.
Light’s childhood friend, Lena, swiftly rises to S-rank adventurer status after acquiring the powerful “Sword Saint” skill. In contrast, Light is initially disappointed to receive the seemingly useless “>” skill, which appears to relegate him to a life of farming. However, a twist of fate occurs when Light accidentally consumes a second Skill Fruit and, instead of dying, discovers his true, overpowered ability: he can eat an unlimited number of Skill Fruits and gain all their abilities without consequence.
The English Dub Cast and Crew Revealed
Crunchyroll has also unveiled the full English voice cast and production crew for the dub. Aiden Call takes on the lead role of Light, while Kayla Temshiv voices Lena. Other key cast members include Reshel Mae as Ayla, Maganda Marie as Dratena, Bree Han as Monica, and Tia Ballard as Flower Hat.
The English dub production is led by Voice Director Shawn Gann, with Susie Nixon as the Producer, Domonique French handling the adaptation, Matt Grounds as the Mixer, and Victor Acosta as the Engineer.
Production Details of the Anime Series
The original Bogus Skill > anime television series premiered in Japan in January 2025 and ran for 12 episodes, produced by Asahi Production. Ryuichi Kimura directed the series, with Gigaemon Ichikawa overseeing the series scripts. Character designs were handled by Risa Miyadani and Yasuka Ōtaki, and Selin composed the music.
The series’ opening theme, “Bravely Dance,” is performed by VTubers Lamy Yukihana and Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino, while TrySail performs the ending theme, “Sonna Bokura no Bōkentan!”.
Fans eager to experience Light’s journey from a seemingly “bogus” skill holder to an unstoppable force can now look forward to diving into the English dub on Crunchyroll.
