Renowned Japanese rock band Bump of Chicken will perform the ending theme song, titled “I,” for the highly anticipated My Hero Academia Final Season anime, which is set to premiere on October 4, 2025. The announcement has generated excitement among fans, especially given the band’s long-standing admiration for Kohei Horikoshi’s superhero saga.

Bump of Chicken Unveils “I” for the Grand Finale

The band, known for their distinctive sound and lyrical depth, expressed their enthusiasm for contributing to the concluding season of My Hero Academia. “We are very proud and happy to be in charge of the ending theme for My Hero Academia, which all the members are big fans of,” Bump of Chicken stated. “We put our hearts and souls into producing it. We are looking forward to the final season!” The new song “I” is expected to debut in the anime starting from the broadcast on October 11, 2025.

This collaboration marks a significant moment as it’s the band’s second anime tie-up for a Weekly Shonen Jump series, the first being “Sailing Day” for the 2003 One Piece The Movie: Dead End no Bōken. My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi is also a known long-time fan of One Piece, adding another layer of connection to this musical partnership.

My Hero Academia Final Season Set for October Premiere

The eighth and final season of the My Hero Academia anime will kick off on October 4, 2025, on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV in Japan. Crunchyroll has licensed the season for streaming outside of Asia, ensuring fans worldwide can follow the conclusion of the epic hero-villain conflict.

What to Expect from the Final Arc

This concluding season will pick up directly after the events of Season 7, adapting the climactic “Final War Arc” from the original manga. Viewers can anticipate the long-awaited final battles between key characters such as Izuku Midoriya and Tomura Shigaraki, and All Might versus All For One, as the fate of their world hangs in the balance. The season is expected to cover chapters 399-431 of the manga.

While an official episode count hasn’t been formally announced, industry speculation suggests the final season may run for approximately 11 episodes, concluding around December 13, 2025. This shorter run is anticipated due to another anime taking over its broadcast slot later in December.

In addition to Bump of Chicken’s ending theme, Porno Graffitti, who performed the very first opening theme “The Day” for the series, will return to deliver the opening theme song “The Revo” for the final season. This brings two powerhouse bands together to soundtrack the grand finale.

Bump of Chicken’s Extensive Anime Music Portfolio

Bump of Chicken has a rich history of contributing to anime, video games, and film soundtracks, with almost every release since their third single, “Tentai Kansoku,” charting in the top ten on the Oricon Weekly Charts. Their music has graced various popular titles over the years:

  • “Karma” for Tales of the Abyss (video game and anime adaptation)
  • “Tomodachi no Uta” for Doraemon: Nobita and the New Steel Troops: ~Angel Wings~ movie
  • “Hello, world!” for Blood Blockade Battlefront
  • “Answer” and “Fighter” for March Comes In Like a Lion
  • “GO” for Granblue Fantasy The Animation
  • “Sirius” and “Spica” for Juushinki Pandora
  • “Gekkou” for Karakuri Circus
  • “Souvenir” for Spy × Family (2nd cour of the first season)
  • “Sleep Walking Orchestra” for Delicious in Dungeon

Their consistent involvement with beloved franchises underscores their ability to capture the essence of diverse stories through their music, making their inclusion in the final season of My Hero Academia a fitting choice for its epic conclusion.
