Toei Animation has released a new clip from Butt Detective the Movie: Star and Moon, the third anime film in the Butt Detective franchise, offering a glimpse into the enigmatic past of Phantom Thief G. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japan on March 20, 2025.
Butt Detective Goes Undercover on Stardust Island
The film’s plot kicks off when Koala seeks Butt Detective’s help in finding a missing relative who vanished during an idol contest. This leads the detective to Stardust Island, which not only hosts the contest but also serves as the headquarters for the international criminal organization, Phantom Thief Academy, led by the notorious Phantom Thief G.
Unmasking the Dark Age Plan
While on Stardust Island, Butt Detective discovers that Phantom Thief Academy is advancing a secret conspiracy known as the “Dark Age Plan”. To investigate, Butt Detective goes undercover as an idol.
An Unlikely Alliance
Amidst the investigation, Butt Detective teams up with Phantom Thief U, who aims to reclaim the Moonlight Stone from Phantom Thief G. This alliance promises an exciting dynamic as the two thieves work together to thwart Phantom Thief Academy’s plans.

Theme Song
