The highly anticipated second season of the anime adaptation of Tow Ubukata’s fantasy novel, ‘Bye Bye, Earth’, is set to premiere on April 4th, with new theme song artists revealed. Fans can look forward to new promotional videos and a visual to accompany the announcement.

Season 2 Debut and Theme Song Artists

The staff for the television anime revealed that the second season will debut on April 4th. The anime will premiere at 11:30 p.m. JST on WOWOW, both broadcast and streaming. Following this, the series will be available on other television and streaming services in Japan.

The theme songs for the upcoming season have been announced, adding to the excitement surrounding the premiere. Who-ya Extended will perform the opening theme song, “Aufheben,” while ASCA will perform the ending theme song, “Moonwork.”

Promotional Material and Key Visual

Along with the theme song announcements, two new promotional videos have been released, offering a sneak peek into the upcoming season. These videos provide a preview of Who-ya Extended’s opening theme song “Aufheben” and ASCA’s ending theme song “Moonwork”. A new key visual has also been unveiled. It features a scene of Bell and Adonis crossing swords.

Returning Staff and Cast

The new season will feature a returning staff and cast from the first season, ensuring continuity and familiarity for fans. Yasuto Nishikata directs the anime at LIDEN FILMS with assistant director Sōta Yokote. Hiroyuki Yoshino is in charge of the series scripts, and Yūki Hino designs the characters. Kevin Penkin composed the music.

About ‘Bye Bye, Earth’

‘Bye Bye, Earth’ is based on Tow Ubukata’s fantasy novel, which was initially released in two volumes in December 2000 with art by Yoshitaka Amano. The work then received a new four-volume edition from 2007 to 2008 with illustrations by Hyung-Tae Kim.

The story is set on an Earth where all people take the form of animals. Belle is the only girl in the world without the characteristics of animals. Called “Faceless”, she sets out to discover if there are other beings like her. Belle wields a sword and becomes involved with the struggles between the cities and outside world.

Production and Streaming

Crunchyroll, the WOWOW subscription television channel, and Sony Pictures are producing the anime. Crunchyroll streamed the first season “in more than 200 countries and territories.

Free Episode and Special Broadcasts

To celebrate the upcoming premiere, WOWOW made the first episode of the first season available to watch for free on their official YouTube Channel for a limited time.

WOWOW will also broadcast and stream a program narrated by Saori Hayami, who plays Sherry, called “The second season begins! Saori Hayami navigates a look back at ‘Bye Bye, Earth’ with keywords!” From 11:30pm on March 28th, all episodes of the first season will be broadcast and streamed for free for a limited time.

Theme Song Artists’ Comments

Who-ya Extended commented, “We are Who-ya Extended, and we will be performing the opening theme for the second season of the anime “Bye Bye, Earth.” When you live in a diverse and colorful world, you may feel miserable and confused, and the words “finding yourself” may pierce you deeply and sharply. However, we hope that the song “Aufheben” will be of some strength to the protagonist Bell’s endless journey, and to those of you who watch over him. We look forward to the start of the broadcast!”
