Tokyo, Japan – The highly anticipated second season of Call of the Night officially premiered on July 4, 2025, bringing back the unique blend of supernatural romance and late-night mystery that captivated fans worldwide. The series, based on Kotoyama’s popular manga, continues the nocturnal journey of Ko Yamori and his enigmatic vampire companion, Nazuna Nanakusa.

The first episode of Call of the Night Season 2 aired at 11:30 PM JST on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block and its affiliated channels in Japan. International viewers can stream new episodes weekly on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE, with Prime Video also offering the series in some regions.

The Return of Ko and Nazuna’s Nighttime Escapades

Season 2 picks up the story of insomniac Ko Yamori, a disillusioned teen who finds solace in the night and his encounters with the free-spirited vampire, Nazuna Nanakusa. Their relationship deepens as Ko continues his quest to become a vampire, navigating the complexities of their bond and the unique freedoms and challenges the nighttime world offers. The new season promises deeper and darker turns in their adventures, exploring themes of love, loneliness, and connection.

Key Details and Production

Call of the Night is an anime adaptation of Kotoyama’s manga, which concluded its serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in January 2024. The first season, which premiered in July 2022, quickly gained a cult following for its distinctive neon-soaked animation, lo-fi soundtrack, and compelling romance.

The original creative team returns for Season 2, with Tomoyuki Itamura directing at LIDEN FILMS. Tetsuya Miyanishi serves as chief director, Michiko Yokote handles the scripts, and Haruka Sagawa is responsible for character designs. Yoshiaki Dewa also returns as the composer, ensuring the series retains its signature atmospheric sound.

New Faces and Story Arcs

Season 2 introduces new characters who will play pivotal roles in Ko and Nazuna’s evolving story. Maaya Uchida joins the cast as Haru Nanakusa, a nurse whose appearance is strikingly similar to Nazuna and is key to uncovering Nazuna’s past. Additionally, Rina Satō is cast as Kiku Hoshimi, a captivating woman with whom Ko’s friend Mahiru becomes smitten. The season is expected to delve into the “Cigarette Case Arc,” teasing further mysteries about Nazuna’s history.

Streaming Information and Episode Schedule

New episodes of Call of the Night Season 2 will be released weekly on Fridays. While the first two episodes aired on July 4 and July 11, 2025, respectively, the full schedule of the 12-episode season extends into August.

Viewers in Japan can catch the episodes on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block and other local networks. For international fans, Crunchyroll and HIDIVE are the primary streaming platforms, simulcasting episodes shortly after their Japanese broadcast. HIDIVE has also announced that it is the exclusive streaming platform for the new episodes.

Fans who attended Anime Expo 2025 on July 5 received an exclusive preview of the second episode. The premiere marks the continuation of a fan-favorite series, promising to expand on the supernatural romance and urban nightlife elements that defined its acclaimed first season.
