Fans of the supernatural romance anime Call of the Night are buzzing with anticipation as the second season prepares to enter its intense “Halloween Night Arc.” A new promotional video (PV) and key visual have been unveiled, teasing a climactic confrontation beginning with Episode 9, set to air on August 29.
The anime’s official X/Twitter account and website released the compelling new assets, indicating a significant escalation in the ongoing narrative.
Previewing the “Halloween Night Arc”
The newly released key visual for the “Halloween Night Arc” sets a dramatic tone, featuring Nazuna Nanakusa smiling fearlessly at Ko Yamori, who is depicted in vampire attire. Directly behind them, the formidable detective Anko Uguisu is shown pointing a gun, hinting at the escalating conflict. The visual also includes the vampire Kikyo Seri and her human servant Akito Akiyama, known as Akkun, suggesting their involvement in the unfolding events.
Accompanying the visual is a gripping promotional video, which opens with ominous music as Nazuna and Anko are reunited. Ko’s voice can be heard foreshadowing a dark past, stating, “The day the detective’s family was destroyed,” followed by the ominous date “October 31st” appearing on screen. The trailer further builds suspense with Anko declaring, “I’ve come to end the night,” signaling her resolve. The PV is set to the anime’s ending theme song, “Nemure” (Sleep) by the hip-hop unit Creepy Nuts, and showcases a flurry of never-before-seen scenes. These include battle sequences between Nazuna and Anko, Ko running through a Halloween-themed town, serious expressions from other vampires, and a poignant moment where Nazuna sheds tears, promising an emotionally charged arc.
The Escalating Conflict Between Vampires and Detective
The “Halloween Night Arc” is expected to bring the battle between the vampires and the detective, primarily centered around Nazuna and Anko, to its peak. Season 2 has been exploring the weaknesses of vampires, particularly “the thing they held most dearly as humans,” and delving into secrets from Nazuna’s past, intensifying the nocturnal adventures shared by Ko, Nazuna, Anko, and their friends. Anko Uguisu has been actively hunting vampires, and the new arc suggests a direct confrontation with potentially devastating consequences.
