The Chained Soldier anime is gearing up for its second season with a fresh team and a confirmed release in 2026. Fans of the dark fantasy action series can anticipate the continuation of Yuuki Wakura’s adventures in the alternate dimension of Mato, battling monsters alongside the empowered women of the Anti-demon Corps.

New Production Studio and Staff

The second season of Chained Soldier will see a change in the animation studio. Passione and Hayabusa Film will be taking over the animation production from Seven Arcs, who animated the first season. Along with the studio change, there are also new key staff members.

  • Director: Masafumi Tamura (The Misfit of Demon King Academy II, Ange Vierge, The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat) will be directing the second season, replacing Goro Kuji.
  • Character Designer: Keiya Nakano (Keijo!!!!!!!!, AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue) will be taking over character designs from Hiroyuki Yoshii.

These changes were announced after a special event in Japan, generating excitement among fans for the new direction of the anime.

Returning Staff

Despite the changes in director and animation studio, some key staff members from the first season are returning for the second season.

  • Series Composition: Yasuhiro Nakanishi will continue to handle series composition.
  • Scriptwriters: Yasuhiro Nakanishi, Taiki Ezaki, Takahiro Nagase, and Kyota Kano will be penning the scripts.
  • Music: Kohta Yamamoto will be back to compose the music.
  • Sound Director: Chikako Yokota will also be returning as the sound director.

Additional Staff

The anime’s second season has further bolstered its creative team with the addition of several new staff members

  • Concept Composite: Junpei Takatsu
  • Art Director: Shino Ohara
  • Color Designer: Sakae Suzuki
  • Assistant Color Designer: Mai Kabatani
  • Director of Photography: Kōji Hayashi
  • CG Director: Takamasa Taba (SANZIGEN)
  • Editor: Ayako Tan
  • Sound Production: Dax Production

Kana Hanazawa Joins the Cast

A new addition to the voice cast has also been announced. Kana Hanazawa, known for her roles in popular anime such as The Quintessential Quintuplets, will be voicing Ren Yamashiro, the Chief of the Anti-Demon Corps’ 10th Unit.

First Season Overview

For those new to the series, Chained Soldier is based on the manga written by Takahiro and illustrated by Yohei Takemura. The story is set in a world where supernatural forces have emerged:

  • Mato: Entrances to another dimension filled with monsters called Shūki.
  • Peaches: Resources that grant special abilities exclusively to women.

The Anti-demon Corps, composed of women empowered by Peaches, fights against the Shūki emerging from Mato. The story follows Yuuki Wakura, a young man who gains the ability to make Peaches more effective, but must become the “slave” of Kyouka Uzen, the chief of the Seventh Unit, to use his power.

The first season of the anime adaptation aired from January to March 2024 and is available for streaming on HIDIVE.

Where to Watch

The first season of Chained Soldier is available for streaming on HIDIVE. HIDIVE is also expected to stream the second season in 2026.

Original Manga

The Chained Soldier manga series, written by Takahiro and illustrated by Yohei Takemura, has been serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ since January 5, 2019. As of December 4, 2024, 17 volumes have been released. The manga has been licensed for English release in North America by Yen Press.
