The Reze Arc: A Pivotal Chapter for Denji
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc adapts the fan-favorite “Bomb Girl Arc” from the original manga, which delves into a significant and explosive storyline for the protagonist, Denji. The film’s premise sees Denji, now operating as “Chainsaw Man” within Special Division 4’s Devil Hunters, encountering the enigmatic Reze after a date with Makima. This encounter promises to ignite one of his deadliest and most personal battles yet.
The movie serves as a direct sequel to the events of the first anime season, making it a crucial installment for viewers eager to follow Denji’s journey and emotional development.
Production Team and Global Release
MAPPA, the acclaimed studio behind the first season, returns to produce the film, ensuring a consistent and high-quality adaptation. Tatsuya Yoshihara, who contributed to the TV anime as a storyboarder and episode director, helms the movie as director, with Hiroshi Seko returning as the screenwriter. The voice cast from the television series also reprises their roles, with Reina Ueda joining as the voice of Reze.
While Japanese audiences will experience the film starting September 19, the global release plan sees Crunchyroll distributing the movie through Sony Pictures Releasing. International screenings are set to commence from September 24 in select Asian markets, with the United States release scheduled for October 24, an earlier date than initially announced. The film will premiere in over 80 countries worldwide.
