Series Background and Plot
Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle is based on the light novel series written by Hiromu and illustrated by raemz, which first began publication in June 2019 under Shogakukan’s Gagaga Bunko imprint. As of August 2024, nine main volumes and one short story collection have been released. Yen Press publishes the official English version of the light novel series.
The story revolves around Saku Chitose, who is described as the most popular kid in his high school, possessing high-level studies, athletics, and communication skills. Despite his seemingly perfect life and attractive group of friends, his world takes an unexpected turn when a teacher asks for his help in convincing a withdrawn student to return to school. The narrative is an emotional coming-of-age story set in Fukui prefecture. A manga adaptation by Bobcat was also serialized from April 2020 to February 2025.
