This same-day release allows international audiences to dive into the high-stakes world of professional death games without delay. Exploring the Premise of SHIBOYUGI

Based on the popular light novel series by Yushi Akai and Nekometal, SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table introduces viewers to Yuki, a 17-year-old who makes her living as a professional “death gamer.” The story begins when Yuki awakens in an unfamiliar manor, clad in a maid uniform, alongside five other girls. They soon discover they are trapped in the “Ghost House,” a perilous environment filled with deadly traps, blowguns, buzz saws, and locked rooms, forcing them into a series of survival games.

Unlike the other terrified participants, Yuki approaches the situation with a calm, almost professional demeanor, as playing death games is her career. Yen Press publishes the official English version of the original light novel series, offering a thrilling description of the premise.

Japanese Cast and Production Staff

The Japanese voice cast features Chiyuki Miura as Yuki, Rena Motomura as Aoi, Inori Minase as Kinko, Haruka Satō as Kokutō, Mutsumi Tamura as Beniya, and Rina Kawaguchi as Momono.

The anime adaptation is directed by Sota Ueno (Days with My Stepsister) at Studio DEEN. Rintaro Ikeda (Insomniacs After School) is handling the series composition, with Eri Osada (The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat) designing the characters. Junichi Matsumoto (The Ancient Magus’ Bride) is composing the music, and Noriyoshi Konuma serves as the sound director. The opening theme song, “¬Ersterbend,” is performed by LIN from MADKID, while the ending theme, “Inori,” is performed by Chiai Fujikawa.

New episodes of SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table will be available weekly on Crunchyroll.
